I was wondering if anyone could help me choosing wireless NVR for my new 4K q-see cameras - https://q-see.com/collections/wi-fi-plus-series/products/4k-wi-fi-cube-camera-qcw4k1mcw16

There's one wireless NVR available on q-see site: https://q-see.com/collections/wi-fi-plus-series/products/qcw4-1 but it's expensive (little bit cheaper on Amazon). The cloud option is out of picture since they want around $19.00 a month. Anyone can rfecomend any other way or universal wireless NVR where I can store/record the video's from these 4K cameras?

Thank you in advance.

HI Michael72,

I recommend using a normal NVR - and using a WiFi router / access point which the WiFi camera would connect to and get an IP address for your LAN.

Hi mat200,

Good point, I didn't even know that I can use the normal NVR using the Wi Fi router. I have a Spectrum Internet and using their router. Do you know if I can read somewhere about how to make that change (set my camera's IP address for LAN)? Also, any normal NVR you can recommend for my 4K Q-See camera's? Thank you!

Hi Michael72,

I don't know the router which spectrum uses - certainly it has the standard options for WiFi device configuration which you should be able to use to assign IP addresses for the cameras.

If not, maybe purchase a ASUS or Netgear router - which have some notes here on also setting up a VPN.

For the NVR - you want to find a 4K compatible OEM model or Q-see model - ideally one which supports IVS/IVA rules. You could also go with a windows PC running Blue Iris software.

The NVR I have is a Dahua OEM NVR5216-16P-4KS2 which I picked up from Andy at Empire Tech. There is also a non-PoE version of that.
