So I was told by the helpful people down at nellys that the 2232 bullet cam has a FAR better night vision than the 2332 turret cam.I have two 2332 cams and I love them but I always am left wanting more in the night vision department. Whell the time has come and since the 2232 is just a little more I was thinking ill get 2 of them. How much better is the 2232 than the 2332????? Both in the night vision department and all around? Thanks guys!

The 2232 is rated at 50m vs 30m for the 2332...its has 2 exir leds.
Hikvsion maxes this camera that is available with an i8 80m option http://www.hikvision.com/europe/Products_show.asp?id=9889

Wow that 80m looks sweet! I don't think nellys has that 80m one, I wonder if i can get it usa version. Do you have the 2232? If so how does It compare? If I get the 80m it needs to be USA lol.

I dont have either...i dont believe anyone is selling the 80m in the usa...(it also has an sd card slot btw)..
The actual image should be similar between the hiks...one just has more ir..

I am weighing the costs of a seperate IR vs a beefed up IR already in the cam. I wish the 80m one was Americanized with USA firmware. My finger has been hovering on the "buy now" button all weekend. The 50m 2232 looks decent too and nellys sells that one. Decisions decisions. Im a newb lol. I dont know what separate IR to buy, and it will need to travel long distances so im leaning towards either the new i8 or the 2232

I dont think it would be practical for this one area because it is some 200ft away from where I want to record, BUT, for the other cams that are mounted to the house, its in the cards definitely . But because im such a newb, I don't know what external IR to buy either. ....

(insert external IR recomendation here lol-)

You will not find anything that will throw usable IR light 200 feet at any reasonable price unless you are targeting a very reflective surface. So, license plates are easy because they reflect - people and clothing are hard. A good rule of thumb is take any mid-priced manufacturer's rating and cut it in half. A Raymax 50 is about $600. Larsen Electronics has someting around $500, with their power supply

Just an update.Getting the hang of it, the ir light on the cam simply needs help in the form of more light from aanother source, and no 2 situation is the same even with the same model cam.

They have them in the UK and I've installed a few.

The only problem is that they only do them with a 4mm lens, which is crazy considering the IR range.

They look pretty much like these Turbo cams that I have sprayed black for a job...

Sorry, my mistake.

These are Turbo DS-2CE16D5T-VFIT3 Which are very similar to the DS-2CD2T32-i5 and i8

I don't think we get the i8 yet either.
ok, i see, those are not ip cameras, they are TVI...they are varifocal as well and 50m ir..
