Hik-Connect App vs. iVms 4500

But isn't that hik connect ? Already got that . And it does the same in with that on the ivms app and the hic app.

It just times out when you try to look at live feed. It's ok when viewing recorded stuff

If you register with Hik connect you can then use iVMS-4500 without forwarding ports.

I personally prefer iVMS-4500 to the Hik Connect app.

So I have hic connect app with hic connect log in . Most of the time that gets up to 80 or 90 % but then times out after a bit. Most of the time I can see recorded stuff ok but it's the live that times out. But then sometimes goes straight in to it.

Then I have also tried ivms and it does the same really and that's using hic connect log in. Have also tried it direct with wan IP still does the same.
Don't understand why though it's pretty useless with it like that.

Is this viewing the sub stream or the main stream? Default main stream is normal 25 frames per second. Depending on the resolution it is normally way to much data for the mobile network.

I set up the sub stream as:

Hik connect is horrible the iVMS-4500 wins hands down.

Both apps work without a vpn or port forwarding. Just register a Hik connect account, add a device to your account and you’re good to go.

Personally I hate the Hik connect app but like the iVMS-4500. Maybe because it is what I’m used too.
One reason is that I find with connect I have to select the cameras each time I log in but with 4500 they load automatically.

I keep trying adjusting settings to get a VPN connection, still can't remote connect to my windows phone L2TP client, I was getting error 720 before adjusting those settings, now I'm getting error 1460 (on my phone).

I'm not giving up on VPN, I'll keep researching and trying different settings, but this seems like it might be something that might take me weeks or even months before I finally get it working, if I cant get it working soon I might have to settle for using Hikvision's Hik-connect and their iVMS-4500 phone app until I can eventually figure out how to get a VPN connection to my phone.

it would be easier to vpn into to your nvr than mess with hik-connect
as you have control over all settings in and out.

Optimization 1. [Hik-Connect] Reduce time to respond stream request from Hik-Connect server, user will get live view more quickly on Hik-Connect app.
there newest firmware has addressed this on the camera and nvr. but if its not broken leave it.
it only take a few seconds to log out and log back in.
but read the release notes always before you ever upgrade as they can take away stuff that you might of liked,
and given you a bunch of stuff you dislike.

one got reset to factory settings. only two cameras on that test nvr with old factory Chinese/hacked English firmware zero port forwarding that i could see, only hick-connect p2p

and bang what ever is going around it nailed one camera back to a factory reset

Does that make the camera unusable, or just make it the way it was when you first got it ?

Just back to the way it was in this instance after removing it then had to reset it back as it had lost it ip number and you then are messing around bringing it back to life it’s just these gray imported cameras be careful of them.
I was sold these by a reputable cctv company who did the whole install,I was none the wiser a year ago.

Okay, thanks, that's good to know, the place I got mine from is supposed to be the U.S. version, so does that mean I should not have that problem ?

look at your serial number if it has ccch in it then its a Chinese version any thing else it will be OK and make sure you have up to date firm ware as up too ver 5.4.5
do not use 5.5.5 as there has been reported problems with it if there working fine best quote "if it aint broke dont fix it" :)

Again i think you are trying to process too much data.

Could be you're internet upload speed. Not sure what Hik recommend.

What is you're mainstream/recording resolution(each camera)?
What is you're mainstream/recording frame rate(each camera)?

Thanks, just checked, the serial number is numbers only, no letters, just 9 numbers, and that label also has a date that said 06/2017 so I guess that is the date it was made. I guess I'll have to wait till I hook the camera up and turn it on for the first time before I can see what version firmware it has, hopefully it already has the 5.4.5 you mentioned. I took a picture of the label so I'd have an easy to access pic to refer to after the camera is installed outside.

So that's my settings both cameras are the Same.
So question
When you log in on the app does it automatically use the sub stream ? If not how do you set it to use sub stream on app and main when your recording or viewing on NVR or PC at home ?
