HIK DS-7616NI bricked with new firmware 4.0

control-U not supported..
it took a while before i could type. i think software is from 2015 if i remember right.

Woo hoo. Finally got to see upgrade text on putty.
Somehow it can't find laptop via serial connection..
Ip of machine and update server says it's correct in msg.
Is just serial connection needed or a network too?

By the way - you'll find the PuTTY 'Copy all to clipboard' menu (top left icon) useful.
It allows you to paste the scrollback to Notepad or similar for editing or posting.

laptop is stupid and does not have rj45 plug. only usb and of course no adapter. i can ping the router ok but not back thwe other way to laptop so not getting a connection.
might have to buy a adapter.

also, with putty open and tftp32 ready, i hold down the ctrl key and as i start the nvr i then push U while holding ctrl, that works every time if i do it that way.
just no network.

There all non responsive. So bricked I'm assuming too.
No reason why they'd be bricked.
Did you disconnect the cameras from the NVR?
If so - did you note which was connected to which port?

On the assumption that they are not reconnected as they were -
With the cameras connected to the NVR PoE ports, connect the PC to an unused PoE port and use SADP to find the cameras.
Note down the IP addresses.
What's the model of cameras, and what are the firmware versions?

You can find which IP address is associated with which camera if you disconnect one at a time, refresh SADP and see which disappears.
Then, in the NVR web Gui, System | Camera management - you can see the IP address that each channel is configured to use.
This must match what the camera is set to.
That will allow you to reconnect the cameras to the correct channels.
Did you use the same password for the NVR as it was using before the firmware update?
If so, the cameras should reconnect OK.
If not, you'll need to either use 'Modify' to change each channel to Manual so you can change the password, or you can change the NVR admin password back to what it used to be.

almost there.
cameras have loaded into nvr as per old configuration , however i cant delete them. always says failed.
have gone into one camera so far and changed ip details but of course i cant add it as cameras are not allowed to delete.

The PoE channels are fixed, you can't add or delete.
You have to either modify the channel, in Manual mode, to match the camera for IP address and password, or modify the camera to match the channel settings.

That's good - it means you have the correct camera admin password.
Can you supply some detail - eg IP addresses of the cameras and of the NVR PoE channels, so you can get some pointers.
Basically - you need to match the camera IP addresses to what's set on the NVR PoE channels.

Did you use the same admin password for the NVR as it was when you first added the cameras?

We need a bit more detail in order to help -

How are you connecting to the NVR?
Is it via a DB9 connector on the back panel, or via a 4-pin connector on the main board?

What type of interface are you using on the PC?
Is it a serial TTL to USB convertor, or an RS232 serial interface?

What port settings have you configured in PuTTY?
They should be baud rate=115,200, 8 bits no parity.

What actual problem are you seeing and what was done to the NVR to cause the problem?
