Bricks my 7616 every time. The latest version I can safely use is 3.1.7. (3.2.1+ is no good in my case) If you can't downgrade through the web interface, you'll need to use TFTP Auto Update to roll it back and in my case, combine it with PuTTY over the serial port to stop the device from booting and manually "upgrade" back to an older version. Too bad - the new web interface looks very sharp.

i have a brand new DS-7616NI-E2/8P with V3.3.1 build 150422 and even the sticker on box is tag with : Software version 3.3.1 150422.
Language is only english, no option to change to other language.

Ok so my options are V3.3.2 build150522 Multi-lingual and not use V3.3.4 build150616 Multi-lingual witch seems bugy

Edit: Factory date may 2015

Option 3) Leave it be and stick with V3.3.1, V3.3.2 is buggy with push notifications.

Why do you want to update it?

Because of that :
http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/2015-New-model-DS-2CD3345-I-4MP-array-30m-IR-Network-Dome-security-ip-camera-H265/1111147_32415146575.html

" As this new model camera don't work with english version old model NVR (DS-7600NI-SE),
but work on english version new model NVR (DS-7600N-E1(E2) 7700NI-E4) and
(DS-7600NI-E1(E2) 7700NI-E4) with the lastest firmware,please kidnly noted,thx"

So, before the cam arrived, i'm searching
wise informations :) and would like to test my mother tongue too.

Some are, the decent ones aren't.
Isn't 265 the newer "better" compression?
I know it doesn't seem to work on last years NVR's so it won't be better for those who have them but I thought 265 was better?

It doesn't matter if you use a "better" (and by better we mean more compressible) compression if the original image going into it is worse. I'd rather spend £50 extra on 2TB more for my system than have H265 and worse images.

So you're saying in terms of image quality 265 is inferior to 264?
Thanks, I'm in over my head when it comes to this crap.

Absolutely right cheaper with extra TB HDD.
But one may consider others benefits.
It like was a replacement Mpeg2 by Mpeg4 (h264), a huge gain in term of bandwidth saving, is not in term of image quality.
The benefit is to broadcast or record a highter resolution image at the same cost of bandwidth.
H265 bandwidth gaining is 45% over H624.
That's say at now if your system bandwidth allow a recording a viewing 16 channels at 720p, with H265 you can increase it to 1080p.

For security system increasing image resolution mean more quality, because of more details.

The thing is... our Hikvision NVRs don't support H.265... the Chinese H.265 cameras (DS-2CD2335-i for example or DS-2CD3345-i) are because alot of Chinese have one camera with no NVR and use the built in software to record to their computers/NASs.

Just testing H.264+ (which is supported by our NVRs and the WDR cameras DS-2CD2042WD-i etc). Need to take some snapshots of recording but looks like 30% straight off the bat is ok. Will try 50% later.

I got it working. I'm not 100% how. It just started to work. Typical Hikvision. I'm sure it'll stop one day.
