Hi All,

I received two 4MP today from my seller (hes sik!) as it came with firmware version 5.40.20 for my DS-2CD3345 Turret Camera which doesn't even exist on the hikvision chinese site.

Anyway I noticed it comes with SMART265 feature which is a new encoding of H265+ and the 4MP Camera now has H264+ where's my previous ones on 5.3.8 doesn't give me the H264+ option. Has new encoder for the browser too.

Anyone know how to extract the firmware ? besides the obvious of copying the EPPROM hehehehe

Here's the proof

5.4.20 has been out for a while - my last one had it already on.

There are no English versions of 2xx5/3xx5 firmware made by Hikvision so it will be hacked - hence the seller warning (which is quite good to see they do actually).

China site doesn't put the firmware up very quickly usually - it will eventually though. At that point if you are really bothered you can TFTP it to your camera and it will upgrade (but have Chinese menus/identity). That might or might not be important to you?

I have had 5.4.2 cameras for a while (original WR cameras). I am not sure know about the manufacture date, I am quite sure that they go a few months back.

There is even a 5.4.3 available on Hikvision Europe for 2CD2xx0 cameras (HiWatch), but I rarely bother updating the firmware that comes with the camera.

Hi Al,

For sure its a hacked Chinese firmware with English Menus. I reckon the seller has someone on the inside of hikvision hehehe. The current chinese firmware on hikvision chinese site is 5.3.8 for the 3xx5 model. I really want to use the H264+ encoding and play with H265+ hehehehehe.

I have that 5.4.20_160726 firmware, it is for G0 series of cameras(2345/3345), and might not work for R6 series (2042). The seller did not want to provide digicap.dav no matter what, so I just dumped nand flash from the camera. I'Il repackage and share digicap.dav later -- that needs G0/CN crypto keys, which need to be extracted from kernel/davinci, which I have no time to do at the moment.

How the heck did you get it? It does not exist on the web. The only two possible options I can think of are: beat it out of the seller with a rubber hose and use the recent hik ddns website hack to get an unpublished version off their website.

lol

you forgot storm Hikvision HQ with my special ops team! :P

The real answer is a bit less impressive though - got it via a Chinese seller who got it from Hikvision Tech Support.

;) Enabler,

Storm Hik HQ that's a good one . That's awesome lol Al, can we hack the firmware for English menus? So I can't update it via web interface to retain my English menus? :D:D:D:D

Thanks for sharing the file, at least we got something to play with hehehe

You can only use TFTP as I said if you decide you want to change. I wouldn't recommend it though unless you really need to or don't care about the Chinese part.

Can anyone modify this firmware 5.40.20 to have English menus , be a good challenge, Merry Christmas to you all. Happy new year 2017.

guys, I got a Chinese only DS-2CD3120F-I with Firmware V5.4.20_160726. I don't need to change it to English but only want to get rid of the "Language Mismatch" error upon connecting it to my "US-region" NVR (from Laview). From my understanding, if I can retrieve the correct firmware for my cam, I can use the "
Hikvision FIRMWARE TOOLS" to do a "hiktools lang digicap.dav 2". and that should do it. Am I right?

Unfortunately not - that will just change the language flag of the firmware header to stop an early rejection during an attempted firmware update.
It does not in itself change the region of the camera or NVR.

oh man...:( this means that the only way for this cam to properly connect to my Laview NVR is to update to a fully hacked EN/MUL firmware

...and the chance to retrieve a fully hacked EN/MUL firmware V5.4.20_160726 for my IPC DS-2CD3120F-I is very very slim.

well, that's..disappointing...

another question guys, how do I find out which series my IPC DS-2CD3120F-I belong to?
I tried to go through the series list from Hikvision Europe but could not find my IPC in any of the series

Hello friends! Please, how would one change the firmware from Chinese to English or Multilingual so as to avoid the problem of language mismatch when connecting to an English based NVR?
