Hi,

Thank you in advance for any help and advice.

Right, problem im having.

I have purchased all of these cameras previously elsewhere on eBay as where these cameras came from...previous ones worked fine, and it means I have a reasonable idea of what the cameras should and shouldnt do.

So, this time round, purchased the following cameras.

4x DS-2CD2732F-IS
1x DS-2CD2532F-IS
1x DS-2CD2632F-IS

Purchased 5 of the cameras from the same seller, the 5 being the 4x DS-2CD2732F-IS and the DS-2CD2632F-IS

now, 1 of the DS-2CD2732F-IS cameras, the DS-2CD2532F-IS and the DS-2CD2632F-IS are all running firmware V5.2.5 and have CH in the serial so assuming chinese market cameras, and all 3 of those cameras show up like this,

Number of Channels1
Number of HDDs1
Number of Alarm Input1
Number of Alarm Output1

and all 3 cameras recognise the internal SD memory card, and 2 of those cameras both have auto iris as an option under video... as have the previous cameras ive purchased... so all fine.

However, the other 3 DS-2CD2732F-IS cameras are all running firmware, V5.3.0 build 150814 and do not have CH in the serial... but the problem im having is that they show up like this.

Number of Channels1
Number of HDDs0
Number of Alarm Input0
Number of Alarm Output0

Corrected post, posted wrong firmware version mistakenly for 3 working cameras, those cams have v5.2.5 and CH in serial... so cannot be upgraded otherwise will go into chinese... but they are all working fine.

Its the 3 cams which are US/EU serial which have 5.3 and arent working.

Just found another post, where somebody was having similar problem with the SD card,

https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/4950-DS-2CD2132F-IS-not-recognizing-local-mircoSD-card

Also,

https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/4950-DS-2CD2132F-IS-not-recognizing-local-mircoSD-card?p=44609&viewfull=1#post44609

no evidence of the SD card hardware driver initialising, which suggests the hardware doesn't exist or is not recognised. Despite the 'MMC0,1 power register probe OK'.
And there is the dummy audio driver being loaded, which again suggests no audio hardware is present or recognised.
Which sounds similar to the problem I am experiencing with the audio not working, and SD card not recognised.
Maybe these are a fake? and there is no hardware present?

Should definitely have auto iris, and audio and alarm because I checked the Hikvision spec sheet and it lists them features.

Can you grab a copy of the kernel log if the camera firmware still allows you telnet or SSH access?
It may provide some clues / evidence for the seller.
Either
cat /proc/kmsg
or
dmesg
depending on what commands are allowed in the shell.

dont really know what im looking at lol, but both do say, [ 0.839912] No soundcards found.

Which coincides i guess with the lack of audio options despite having audio wiring!

dmesg is fine, it gives the needed information.
From what I can see - the sound driver does not find any sound hardware.
So either the hardware exists and the driver is not compatible - or the hardware is not responding, may not exist.
PCBs usually have optional areas to populate or not during manufacture. I'd guess these are missing the sound components, maybe a manufacturing mixup given the sound connectors.
And no mention in the log of an MMC device.

If you are curious - you could compare with the other cameras.

will do tomorrow, thanks.

the last remaining camera I need to get down, repackage it for return.. so i will do the SSH interogation on the working camera also and compare it to above.

I dont know what to think to be honest... the cameras look perfectly legitimate and genuine... ive purchased 9 Hikvision cameras previously, and this time again 6, 3 of which are the bad dome cameras.

So I know what genuine ones look like, the casings look genuine, the packaging and included accessories all look genuine, board looks genuine.. doesnt look like a poor copy.. the serial numbers are all unique, and the WR serial ones are even running latest firmware fine.

So everything points to them being genuine.

However, they did not do this model of camera without SD or Auto Iris capability, it was alarm and audio which was optional with the S on the end of the model number.

However it seems these 3 units are missing the hardware for the SD Card, Audio, and Alarm, despite having the wiring connectors and socket for them.

surely thats 1 heck of a manufacturing error to install an SD card socket on the board but no hardware to make it useable? surely that would make it a reject item? but then what are the chances of having 3 cameras on same order with exact same fault?

funny thing is, i confronted seller about this, and they claim that all their cameras that they are aware of done have auto iris on this model.. so they tried to say it was not a feature that is missing.

couldnt answer though why the chinese region one i purchased from them on same order, from same ebay listing had auto iris though, why hikvision say,

http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2015042010434977900.pdf

on that pdf it has auto iris, and why on the previous 4 of these camera models ive fitted they all have auto iris!

So wherever they are getting their stock from, looks like its all defective stock... just because the features which are missing are the ones which arent commonly used.. maybe nobody else has noticed?

Yep, sorry about slow reply.

I am now being told to get my money back I have to send back the 3 defective cameras, and 2 working ones as well.

Just a thought, but is there anything I can do with SSH access on the World Region cameras I have before I send them back that I maybe able to use on China region cameras to make them World Region also? Like clone anything across which determines the region? Seeming I have both World Region and China Region cameras at the moment, before I send them back.

Thanks

If I understand what you said correctly the World region cameras don't even have the components on the PCB ?

I have 3 world region cameras, and 1 China region camera of dome type.

china region one works fine, all features work.
world region one doesn't work, lots of features like audio, alarm, SD, auto iris non functional despite having cabling on device for them and sd card slot.

did above output, and it appears world region ones are missing components from PCB for whatever reason because things like audio, on world region ones it just loads a dummy driver, and nothing for SD, but on China region ones they load fine. Can't physically check without pulling camera apart and not doing that as they have to go back.
but from ssh output it appears that way

so possibly reject batch of mis-manufacturer with wrong PCB. No idea.

they are t fake because they had 5.3 installed on them when I purchased them.

and it's more than just. Faulty unit because all 3 world region ones have same problem.

Oh in that case probably not missing components.

Tried factory configuration reset in web page? Or maybe changing to latest firmware?

Also any chance of a prtHardInfo (in ssh) from one of the cameras that doesn't work ok?

Hi,

yep tried a default reset, can't update to newer firmware, it was sent to me with latest firmware already, I checked.

Will try other bit in SSH now.

i don't know if it's missing components or not as I can't see underside of PCB was just going by the previous ssh output. Top side looks complete.

but something not right on the 3 world region ones, because with a sd card in it, it won't even show up, below serial number on config pages it shows 0,0,0,0 for audio in, audio out, alarm, and hdd.

go to video and audio tab, no audio tab for audio options, go to video drop down under video, just says video, no video and audio option, go to Storage, no SD card shows, go to exposure under image and no auto iris option in drop down, only manual.

its same on all 3 world region ones, has the SD card slot inside though, and the extra wire with audio and alarm connections.

the China region one has identical wires and sd socket and recognises everything fine.

I think 0x9808 is DS-2CD2332-I

(no S or F)

So the model name and devtype don't match. One (or both) of them is incorrect which is why you are having the problems.

Does the camera have an SD card slot (remove the dome - shouldn't cause a problem returning it)?

If yes then the devtype is wrong.
If no then the model name is wrong.

Edit:

oh your post above says it DOES have SD card. In that case the dev type is wrong - this is set in the flash so not clear why it would be incorrect unless the seller changed it for some reason or I suppose faulty from Hikvision (unlikely in my opinion).

hmm - that's different to the one above and mine

which is 0x980E

I'm not sure your non working is really a DS-2CD2732F-IS

Hi,

Thanks for reply,

To be honest I have no idea what it is,

I know what it should be and what I ordered lol DS-2CD2732F-IS

It looks like one, it reports as one.

But I can't figure out if it's a fake, a reject or something else.

It has the latest firmware on it, which was something I thought couldn't be installed on Chinese ones... Which made me think twice about it being a fake.

But aside from that I'm clueless, all I know is it has an sd card slot, but doesn't recognise sd card or even list it on the ssh outputs.

It has alarm input, output wiring and audio... But again nothing functional.

It does have an SD slot yep, I've had SD cards in it.

And board looks same as the working one.

If it's got wrong model number programmed into itX why is it still reporting correct model number?
