Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I from AliExpress

Hello, I bought a Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I CCTV camera from the Chinese website Aliexpress. The camera appears to be faulty and I can't get a refund. When I plug the camera into my laptop via Ethernet and change my laptops IP address to suit the camera and plug in a 12v power supply then the camera works and the quality is great. The default IP address of the camera is 192.0.0.64 When I change the IP address of the camera to something like 192.168.1.50 to suit my network and plug the camera into a POE source the camera powers on for a few seconds, dies, powers on again, dies again etc. The camera is a POE IP CCTV camera. I planned to have the recordings stored on to a NAS with an IP address of 192.168.1.250 if it worked. I have tried a PoE Switch, PoE injector, an 8 port PoE injector and a normal 12v power supply with just an ordinary Ethernet cable going back to a Netgear switch (and also the 12v supply with an Ethernet cable going back to the PoE switch just to test it) None of the above works and I have concluded that the camera is simply faulty. Can anyone help me with what the problem may be? If I open the camera is there something I can replace to get this going? I realise that this camera could well be a fake/copy but just wondering if anyone has had a problem similar to this and is there anything else I can try to get it working, or is it not faulty and maybe you can spot something I've just missed. What happens when you hard reset the camera?

It just sets the IP address back to the default 192.0.0.64. I then change my laptop settings back to 192.0.0.1 so that I can log on to the camera again and change the IP address to 192.168.1.50 and the power issues start again.

When I continuously ping the camera when its back to its default there are no lost replies. When I change the IP address it intermittently loses ping replies regularly

I have a 12v power supply plugged into the camera and an Ethernet cable connected directly from the camera to the Laptop's Network Port.

I set my laptop's IP address to 192.0.0.1. I log on to 192.0.0.64 using the default username and password through my browser. I can't remember the exact section I go to (I'm not home at the minute) but it's something like "Network" and change it from there.

After I change it to 192.168.1.50 I unplug the directly connected Ethernet cable and the 12v power supply and plug the camera's Ethernet port into the PoE switch.

I then change my laptop's IP address to a DHCP address which gives it an address something like 192.169.1.7 and log on to 192.168.1.50 using a browser again where I see the logon page for the camera again.

I then try to log on but get an error something like "Network Malfunction" using the default username and password.

After changing the camera to 192.168.1.50 I can see from my command prompt that ping 192.168.1.50 -t is losing pings a lot which suggests that the camera is powering itself on and off

Try downloading the Hikvision utility called SADP and using that to change the IP address instead. It's a program you run which detects and lists all cameras on your network, and allows you to change the IP address.

Thanks Steve, I should have mentioned that I tried that also. I mostly just "manually" changed it as above but I Googled it and found that utility and gave it a go but no joy!

Ok, no probs. I only suggested it as I had a similar issue in that I was changing the ip address on the in-camera menu and couldn't then find the camera. The problem was solved by rebooting the camera back to defaults and then using SADP.

I had similar problem where my camera would worked on 12v but not on POE. The camera would turn on and off repeatedly when using POE. I took the camera apart and swapped out the power board with another good camera I had and the issue went away. Perhaps you are having the same issue.

I had exactly the same issue with mine mate. The powering on, cycling, power off, cycling back on, etc. Only a true hard reboot solved the issue, and it's been working great ever since. Not sure what the procedure was again, but I found it in this forum. It's a few steps one needs to take to truly REBOOT the camera.

Can you remember anything more about the the thread you saw it in OldStyle so I can search for that subject? Or if anyone else has any more info on the True Hard Reboot that requires more than the reset button on the back?

Tried this and was able to change the IP address to suit my LAN using the SADP tool and it worked for about 15 mins and I started getting a bit excited and then the packet loss started again!

That is the longest it has ever worked, normally I'd get a few minutes at the most or just not get logged in at all with the "Network Abnormal" error.

Now it is up and down all the time and the "Network Abnormal" error is back so I can't log in again. It's really frustrating as for the short time it works the picture quality looks amazing.

Do you have IPv6 enabled on your router? If so, maybe disable it temporarily to see if that changes the problem with the camera.
How did you change the camera IP address? Presumably web GUI via the laptop.
If you can still access the web GUI, maybe try a reset to factory defaults and re-apply the desired IP address and gateway.
The Hikvision SADP tool is pretty good and will allow you to apply network settings without having to change the laptop network configuration.

To my knowledge I don't think anyone on this forum has confirmed a fake/copy Hikvision camera.
What's more likely is that the seller has installed some modified firmware to change some characteristic of the camera such as the language it manifests as, to reduce problems connecting to NVRs or software that has regional restrictions, and the modified firmware has some flaws.
What firmware version shows via the web GUI or SADP and what version is printed on the camera label? Very likely they are not the same.

Yeah, I was manually changing the IP address originally but now using SADP. I have disabled IPv6

I can't get into the web interface anymore to check the firmware version but if I do I'll compare it with the camera.

  I Tried upgrading the firmware to see if it would make any difference. The result is still the same. It will run all day when connected directly to my laptop with it's original IP address but when using one of my LAN addresses it just loses power.
  
  Going to buy another camera UK or Ireland based in the next few weeks as I was planning on having 2 cameras at my house anyway.
  
  Looks like it's a hardware problem with this camera.
  
  Does anyone know where I could get a replacement board for a Hikvision-DS-2CD2032-I? If it wasn't too expensive I'd try replacing one.

Abnormal network, that would be your router on another device within your network which is causing the issue, power the camera with a 12v psu and connect it with a crossover cable and see how long it stays up just to prove, it's not your network causing the issue

Ask Exact CCTV who are based in the UK... that's where I get my stuff from now, they are quite helpful.

Abnormal network can also be for wrong protocol I think @whoslooking ? Not sure but pretty sure I had that before when I was trying to get a PoS cheapo PTZ to work with my NVR and managed to knock out one of my DS-2CD2032-is

For sure on the NVR it can also be a region mismatch, but just on a camera on its own sounds like a conflict somewhere.

Are they UK versions supplied by Exact CCTV?
