Just a thought .. I believe that all 3 examples of 4 lines are from cameras that are connected to a Hikvision nvr.

Wondering if its not just a Scottish thing after all

Thank you for your post. I see your firmware version is 5.2.3. That is the firmware on my cameras, but they do not behave the same. You mention your equipment is UK spec and I am wondering if the camera region has something to do with the behavior of the text overlays. I have looked around online and I haven't been able to determine just how many different region versions there are. In fact, the more I've looked, the more confused I've become. I wonder if anyone has a chart that breaks down exactly how to determine what region a camera is and how many region specs there actually are. For the record, I am listing the serial numbers of my cameras below:

DS-2CD2032-I20140726CCWR474198442
DS-2CD2032-I20140516CCWR464869959

I am curious to know what a UK spec serial number looks like. If possible, I would appreciate posts of the Scottish serial numbers. Obviously, Scotland rules on this thread.
:)

AFAIK there are lots of country codes (as in the serial number)

All 3 of my DS-2CD2032-I are CCCH (which means they were from China)
2 other Hikvision cams are also CCCH

As another point of comparison:
DS-2CD2032-I20140906CCCH479614xxx
DS-2CD2432F-IW20141105CCCH487719xxx
DS-2CD2032-I20141113CCCH489546xxx
DS-2CD2132-I20140929CCCH482141xxx

And for good measure, the NVR, which came with an Australian mains cord.
DS-7816N-E2 / 8P1620140616AARR469195xxxWCVU

Oh, and by the way, these were all bought from Aliexpress.

It was suggested privately to me that I should try restoring all the camera parameters back to default settings. I tried this on one of my cameras. (For reference, both of my cameras are at firmware version 5.2.3) After restoring all parameters to default and rebooting, I used SADP to find the camera and change the ip address so that I could open its web configuration page in my browser. Before making any other changes, I tried configuring all four text overlays with text. Only the text in text overlay 1 was visible on the live view. In other words, it didn't help to set all the parameters back to default settings. As of this posting, the text overlay problem has NOT been resolved and it appears that it will have to be resolved by the manufacturer.

For curiosity (as I don't use Text Overlay function), I tried on my cams v 5.2.5 and I have the same results as pepperfr, only Line 1 displays on screen, the others layers appears also over line 1 on screen:

This overlay was created by my VMS without using OSD from Hik cam:

Now if I try to use Hik cam overlay :

and the results on my VMS as you can see, the 4 lines are at same place (look the numbers) :

Again, I don't use OSD layers from cam, but for sure the problem exist with osd and overlay lines, even with v5.2.5.

It looks like your text boxes are on top of each other.

drag them individually to separate.

Thanks grasshopper. Looks like your's is working properly. Everyone that has replied on this forum, has shown that the text overlays work on their cameras. I am having trouble understanding what is different with my cameras versus other's on this forum. Can you share your camera serial number?

For the record, I did talk to Ryan at Nelly's Security where I purchased my cameras. He experienced the same problem that I am experiencing on two Hiks in their shop. Hmmm...

Sorry for bringing up an old thread, but I just started using the cameras OSD overlays and I am having the same problem, only one will display at a time. Did anyone ever figure this out?

I have never figured it out. I just assume it is firmware related. I can still only get mine to display one of the four overlays at a time.
