Hello everyone,

I'm hoping you guys can help. I am a new Hikvision user and just came across this forum due to searching on some problems I have been having. So please forgive me if I have what seems like a common problem. I have read through threads but need to be sure I proceed safely so as not to make things worse.

I attempted to upgrade my DS-2CD2332-I to firmware v5.3.0_150513. The WebUI indicated that it succeeded, but upon reboot it no longer worked. Long story short, I was able to connect to it on 192.0.0.64 via both telnet, FTP and TFTP. I used the AutoUpdate tool to attempt to flash the firmware again. It says it succeeded, but after rebooting I still don't have access. Telnetting in and looking around, I see no indication that there is an HTTP binary or startup script.

The SADP tool sees the camera, but the HTTP port is listed as 0 and is grayed out. I tried checking DHCP, putting it on the production network and rebooting, but no go.

This thread seems to have helped a lot of people with Chinese language firmware, but mine is originally English, so I am not sure if it would be safe to try.

Any help is appreciated.

@mstarks01 Welcome to the forum. Your camera is likely a china region camera (ebay, amazon, aliexpress)...The english firmware was a hacked version. This is why the update failed. Use the instructions in that thread.

Are you sure your camera is an English region camera, or just one that came with English language firmware. Did your camera come in a brown or coloured box, and do you know if your serial number contained a CH or a WR in it? As I'm sure that the serial changes slightly after applying the 5.3.0 firmware.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The procedure in that thread worked perfectly and now I am back in action.

FWIW, I did a lot of research before purchasing a camera and did see people talk about getting a Chinese language version shipped to them from certain vendors. But I figured I was good-to-go since I was ordering from Amazon and people said they got an English version from that vendor. I did not realize the vendor was starting with a Chinese version and loading an English version of firmware on it, and that it would cause me issues upgrading. It's also very disappointing that the upgrade didn't fail gracefully when I tried to flash a version direct from the Hikvision site that they listed as compatible with this model. I'm a pretty technical guy but had no clue what was going on until I bricked it and ended up here after searching for a solution.
