Hikvision DS-7716NI-I4 NVR - continuous AND motion recording

Dear members,

I'm experiencing some difficulties in configuring my Hikvision DS-7716NI-I4 NVR with 6 x HikVision DS-2CD2142FWD-IS.

I want to record the cameras continuously but also want to do motion detection in order to be able to search better in the recordings when movement occurs.

Therefore my Basic Event settings for the cameras look like on the first picture. The second screen shows my storage settings for all cameras.

As far as I remember when I was sitting at my client, I can see on the NVR directly in "Playback" a blue and a green line identifying when motion was detection.
However, when I log into the web view of the NVR remote I can see only the continuous blue line - see screen 3.

Firmware of the device is V3.4.62 build 160503.

Does anybody has a clue? Thanks for your time and help!

Some newer firmware might solve this. Some firmwares will show you the events on the web playback, some will not.

Thanks for your information. Does anybody know if firmware upgrade to V3.4.91 build161220 will solve this issue?

Motion detection marks showing on the continuous recording playback timeline in the web GUI?
This has been available since the 3.4.80 firmware, see posts from here for example: Updated NVR firmware published - NVR_78_79_EXX_V3.4.80_160718.zip

Are there any severe concerns about the firmware upgrade? I never did one on Hikvision NVR/cameras.
Do I do the firmware upgrade locally in the network about the web UI or what is the best way?

The web GUI update is the safest way as there are more checks that you are not trying to load incompatible firmware, either for region or for model.
The download you linked to in post#4 appears to be valid for your stated model.
And you should ideally know if your NVR was sold as 'English upgradeable' or is a Chinese market model.

Good luck!
Look for the selection button at the bottom left of the Live View window, to the right of the matrix view selection button.
The view needs to be in single camera mode.

On my Dvr the turbo 3 this is not available in the timeline when continuous recording.

I just get one long continuous recording and no motion events. I have a DS7204HUHI-F1/S running firmware running v3.4.92
build 170809.

Can anyone help?
