I am new here and starting looking around to build a system for my home. I am running into a few issues and I am not sure what is possible and what is not.
First, I plan on using the 2CD2132 cameras around the house and the DS-78 or the DS-76 NVR with 8 POE ports for expandability.
I read the manual for this NVR and I am aware that I can set it up to record based on events and based on motion etc.
My main concern is Remote Access. I want to access my ip cameras from outside the home. Am I accurate in assuming that can't be done with the NVR and I need to set up IVMS4200 (on a mac) on a computer and leave it on? Are both the NVR and the IVMS used at the same time then?
Can some help reconcile these two?
Second, I plan on viewing my cameras in a browser on an iPad. I am using iRule to control my home and I want to embed a web browser into the program that points at the IP address of the cameras. Do I point the IP address at the NVR or the individual camera? Can I get around this without inputting a username or password? Or can I send a string with the username and password through an HTTP url (example: http://192.168.1.300/user?=admin;password?=12345/)?
