Hi there,

I currently have a DS-7616NI-K2 / 16P DVR. I want to be able to stream in multiple places at the same time i.e in multiple rooms.

I noticed if I'm using the web browser it won't work if there's 2-3 people using it at the same time. At the moment we need around 5- 6 streams and are having to use different ways such as the IVMS apps etc. I was wondering if there's a simpler way to get the streams? I have tried RTSP via a Raspberry Pi and VLC but the stream always shows a green screen.

K-line of HIK NVR's use very low spec CPU. This is why this line didn't received upgrade to 4.0 firmware.
I line has more powerful CPU and supports more concurrent users/bandwidth...

Please also remember that no-plugin streaming in browsers over websocket's use much more CPU in NVR'a from classic RTSP/private protocol stream to desktop/mobile apps.
Even I-line of HIK NVR's very often show messages about no more cpu resources to support live view via web browsers (especially when You stay browser for more that 10-20 minutes).

Dahua 5xxx-4KS2 behaves here much better - without problems You can stream 8 concurrent main streams for 4MP cams to 8 browsers without using plugins - and this works...

I-series uses Hi3536V100 SOC with quad core cortex A17@1.4GHz and 16*2M/4*8M decoding capability.
K-series uses something older/slower... or same variant of the same chip with degraded performance (slower frequency of CPU/GPU/DSP).

HIK tried to develop/publish 4.0 firmware for k-series but it was withdrawn - to slow SOC for new firmware.

Dahua use the same chips in NVR (limited lite 4xxx-4ks2 and more powerfull pro 5xxx-4ks2) and their new firmware 4.x works fast on both lines for me.
Maybe they have much more optimized firmware.
I use NVR mainly by web (no local interface over HDMI).
