I recently updated the firmware on my DS-7608NI-I2/8P but obviously stuffed something up somewhere.

After the firmware update completed, I went through the setup process of the username & password, and somehow the username got set to blank even though I'm sure I left it as 'admin'. So now when I go to login at the NVR, it's just a blank square and I can't enter anything.

So I have opted to reflash it with another firmware using TFTP

I've set up the hikvision TFTP server, and can get it to connect and start the download, but it just seems to repeat:

Any ideas as to how to rectify this??

Great! Thanks alastairstevenson.

Any idea how to work that script on a Windows machine? :D

PS: what firmware should I be using? I couldn't find any relevant downloads from NVR - Hikvision Australia - considering I'm in Australia, you would think that they would have some listed. Would the European firmwares work okay?

Still, for the life of me, can't get the python script to run. Any advice would be great.

EDIT: Done and unbricked now, can actually view the cameras from our rack mount monitor attached to the NVR. Now to figure out how to access its network settings ... can't see it on our router.

Please tell us how you managed to get this to work. I have also tried for hours to get the script to work in Python Windows 10 but without success.
