Hi guys, have you encountered the error when adding new HDD to a Hikvision NVR? So this is what happened, I have a Hikvision NVR model DS-7716NI-E4 with 3 out of 4 slots with WD 4TB Purple HDDs installed... I added a new WD 4TB Purple HDD to the existing setup and this is where the error in the image attached happened.

I tried to isolate the issue by doing the steps below but unfortunately it didnt help

1. using another SATA cable for the newly installed HDD
2. transferring the problematic HDD to another slot that was working
3. restarting the NVR

Any ideas as to why this happened and how to recover the data in the problematic HDD? TIA

Hello,
I have a similar problem where I had an original HDD as Drive 2.
Installed a second drive as Drive 1, formatted both drives and both came online as “Normal”.
Removed Drive 2 as it was 5 years old and getting noisy.
Drive 1 shows as normal but Drive 2 shows as “Not Exist” and is Greyed Out.
Drive 2 is not listed in “Drive Detection” only Drive 1
I now have a Red Status Light on the NVR and have had to silence the Event alarm.
Does anybody know how to remove HDD 2 from HDD Management?

Cheers, Oldace

If you go into the menu on a locally connected monitor and go to the storage settings, there is an option to delete it that isn't available on the web GUI that you're viewing there.

John Williamson - You Sir should be promoted to GURU Status without delay...

Dusted off an old monitor. Even found the power and VGA leads, followed you advice and it was as simple as that.

It had been driving me mad for days.

Thanks again.
