I have one of the new hikvision WiFi doorbells in the UK, and as we don’t have 16v-24vac chimes in this country, I am having a challenge in finding a solution for a chime. Has anyone found a solution to trigger some sort of digital chime using the output of a hikvision DVR? So when the dvr receives a signal from the WiFi doorbell, I link it to an alarm output, thus sounding the chime as an alternative to connecting it to the doorbell itself.

I have been scratching my head to find a suitable chime AND transformer to make it work as well. Contacted the hikvision UK support and they responded back with suggesting wired door chime kit by Byron 720s. Googled the specs for this chime, and found its input voltage rating is 9V. There was another thread mentioning of a chime from toolstation which he mentioned 8-12V. It seems that 8V/9V chimes when being overdriven with16-18 VAC input seems to still work. I wonder if this will shorten the life of chimes.

On another note, if you manage to find a suitable transformer in UK, can you suggest that?

I have now got the same 18v ac adapter and a byron 12vac chime, will try out and update

Can you provide a link to a doorbell or two that you'd find in the UK?

If you could find an appropriate one (which might be difficult), you could use a relay.

Can you please provide the links to the adaptor and byron chime that you have got? Also, did you used any connector/jack to connect from the adaptor to the chime/doorbell? If yes, can you please let me know of that too? Thanks

I got a pack of 10 male and female dc connectors from amazon for cctv, so you can wire - dc adaptor to cat 5 for camera. These worked perfectly for this doorbell.

I have this exact same setup, hik doorbell connected to same Byron chime and it sounds when button is pushed. connected as per the image from @kuchars22 . i have a 24v 1amp PSU
Also connected using HIK protocol to 7608 NVR and recording as per other IP cams and treated as such.

On my test bench, the chime did ring by itself once, but the doorbell didn’t activate and therefore nothing came through on phone.

Also, there is a bit of humming on chime, perhaps overdriving the chime with more than 12vac could be the culprit. Not fitted it yet as the extension work hasn’t started

Looking to get transformer https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K1CWEUG/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1KGIBHIUSPLLS&psc=1
and Housing unit with chime https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001GU89CO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&psc=1

Will this work?

My understanding is that 240v goes to the transformer, and I should connect the doorbell to the 24v (holes 1 and 4) and then connect the chime in the unit to 8v (holes 1 and 2).
How did you get on with this?
