Yes, I know that's part of the house but it's causing IR reflection. I'm not suggesting knocking down the house, just panning the camera so it doesn't record the house. It's bright white and causing IR reflection issues.

Man this is difficult.

What he's saying is that the field of view on the 2.8 mm is larger then a 4mm or 6mm. Meaning youre trying to get the center of the camera at a certain spot but its including an excessive amount of the house at the edges. This is important because that means the IR coming from the camera hits there and bounces back first. Which is why at night everything is so bring there and the other areas look like shit and without detail. Because the sensor takes in this IR light and closes processes it at a darker area so there isn't total washout.

Use this link to get an idea of the field of view for the different lenses and why they are important. Which goes back to the problem you had with the very first picture you posted and then the updated pics in the second page of this thread. Either lens changes or placement changes are important because if something close to the camera reflects too much light, its going to affect the picture in a different area of things that are further away.

4mm would've been better for most of those cameras but with a bit of tweaking (moving mainly) you can get a much better image. No need to spend more on 4mm cameras unless you want to put the 2.8mm indoors or something.

Back door is never going to be great from that position. I mean you can't use a 4mm there either anyway.

OK! Let's see how the night-vision will be but the daytime looks better already!

4mm will be too zoomed in at the back door, don't you think?

We'll have to wait tonight to see if the garden is any better.

You're doing a good job. We all need a little help and guidance on this stuff. We will get this setup as good as it gets, don't worry about that.

Turn on Virtual Host.

The garden looks out of focus. Is it that bad with someone stood there? I'm thinking issue with Smart IR as the daytime is fine.
