I do a few side installs and many customers shop around on Amazon and such. I'm gonna install 4 hornbill cams 4k resolution with 8 port nvr sometime in the next few weeks. I've never heard of them until i pulled em up on amazon. They clam to have 150 degree wide angle view, 2.8mm lens. 98 ft night vision. No other specs such as sensor size etc.

It would be nice if they gave more info. As an example, i think some16 port reolink nvrs have the same thruput and processor as the 8 port. I see more and more "NVR Lite" systems?

Anyone have a tech link on the hornbill cams? They do say they're onvif.

Looks like the following possible models..

153 degree FOV.. must be Diagonal FOV ..

Does not appear to be Dahua OEM ..

Just a guess, based based on the number of cameras versus price they are probably 1/2.7", or smaller, sensors and will not perform well at night, AKA be useless. That, to me, explains why there are no specs on the cameras that actually matter.

That looks like the cameras. They are the turret type.
Sensor1/2.5", 8.0 megapixel, progressive scan, CMOS

He lives on a street with some ambient light sources, so maybe the night vision will be sufficient. Customers base their purchases on dollar amount. I'm OK installing them, even if they do not preform up to expectations. We'll see.

Thanks for the info. Very useful.

Updated to say the cameras look fantastic (in daylight), as most do during the day.......but the night vision need ambient sources. They're better than many big box systems, but as expected at 4k 1/2.5 they lack quality night vision. Customer is happy so all is good. The The user interface is not very polished. Compared to say, a dahua oem it's very lacking, but simple.

Angle of view (H) 118.1° (V) 64.0° (O) 153.5° so the 153 angle of view is not horizontal, and only the 2.8mm lens, as the 4mm decreases the fov.
