How are various cars being entered and stolen in my neighborhood?

My Acura will not let you close the trunk with a key in there. I put my wife's bag in the trunk when I dropped her off at the airport, and the trunk kept popping open when I closed it, all the while beeping. I had to dig through and find the fob to put in my pocket so I could lock the car.

My old pickup would let you lock the fob inside, then you could use the keypad to open the door.
I did this a lot while camping, fishing, swimming, etc so the fob did not get soaked.

Just FYI. Locking the car doesn't help much.

Guy smashed my window and went in foot first so as not to trigger factory alarm when door is opened while locked.

Did your car get stolen? My guess is no. This is why we also keep valuables out in plain view or don't store them in the car at all.
