Hi! I am new to this world and I just bought my first NVR (Dahua DHI-NVR1108HS-8P-S3/H), when buying the cameras, the seller sold me 2 ZKTeco cameras and told me the NVR and the cameras where compatible. Fast foward a month and I cannot for the life of me cannot successfully add the cameras to my NVR. i have done some digging and found something about ONVIF? Not really sure how that works and if it takes place on my problem.

The second issue is that I cannot access the camera IP even if connected directly to the camera (through PoE) as I always get a refused connection message. I have tried everything: Public IP, private IP, using the default ZKT port and nothing. Can you guys please help me understand what am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance.

According to the attached guide, the cam's default IP is 192.168.1.188 .

Insure your PC is in that same 192.168.1.XXX subnet.
If not, assign your PC the static IP of 192.168.1.20, subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, no gateway needed.
Connect the PC directly to the cam if its powered by the 12VDC connector or to the POE switch or POE injector that's connected to the cam.
Open a browser (try IE or Palemoon 32 bit browser) to 192.168.1.188.
Default user is admin, default password is 123456, according to the guide.

If you see the cam's webGUI, insure that ONVIF is enabled and/or a user account is created.

To connect your ZKTeco cameras to the Dahua NVR, you’ll want to utilize the ONVIF protocol, which allows different brands of IP cameras and NVRs to communicate with each other. First, ensure that your ZKTeco cameras support ONVIF; this is usually indicated in the camera’s specifications. Next, connect the cameras to your network (make sure they’re powered via PoE) and access the camera's web interface using its default IP address (usually something like 192.168.1.100). If you can’t access it, try resetting the camera to factory settings to restore the default IP and credentials.

Once you gain access, configure the camera’s network settings to match your local network (ensure it’s on the same subnet as your NVR). Then, in the Dahua NVR, go to the camera management section, choose to add an IP camera, and input the camera's IP address along with the ONVIF credentials (typically found in the camera's settings). If you continue to face issues, verify that any firewall settings or network configurations aren't blocking the connection.
