How to get an indoor alarm, triggered by Hikvision camera, without internet connection?

Hello ipcam forum,

I have a problem I need to solve. Can you help me?

Situation:
  • 4x PoE Cameras.
  • The manual alarm outputs of the cameras are not used.
  • The PoE switch for the cameras is inside the house.
  • The PoE switch is not connected to the internet.
  • Each camera can detect intrusions and trigger an alarm (surveillance center).

Objective:
  • If one of the cameras is triggering an intrusion, I want to get an alarm inside the house, without connecting the entire system to the internet.
Does the DS-KH9510 door station cover that without internet connection, as it has a built-in hikconnect app?
Or are there other devices I need to include?

Any helpful ideas are appreciated! :)

Wired alarm panel connected to the camera triggers. I used software to generate MQTT from my Hikvision DB.

Software integration to alarm panel.

Personally here in the early 2000's used Optex combo outdoor cameras wired to alarm panel.

Automation used SAPI TTS for whole home audio and triggers. Went to using chimes in the middle of the night. Bedside tabletop would pop up camera view if enabled.

Triggers at 3AM would turn on every outside lamp / landscaping light which worked well with the cameras and enable a few outdoor ultrasonic speakers. (140db).

Today use PFSense / OpenVPN to access my home network (Linux Servers and Windows servers running automation and CCTV)

Unfortunately, I do not have the possibility to connect the cameras' output trigger. I only have the network connection between the camera and the house. :(
Is there any other option?
 
See if you can see the camera with the ONVIF application. IE: ONVIF device manager and look see if the motion is in the ONVIF configuration.

Then go to using Home Assistant (free) using the ONVIF add on or the Hikvision Add on. You have to put HA on the same network.

Create automation events in Home Assistant that notify you with whichever mechanism you want.

Problem with adding locally devices to hik-connect resulted in no notifications as numerous people stated. In my case it worked well. This is something you can test right now for 0 cents.

But be aware, cameras aren't alarm system. And i would strongly suggest an alarm system, considering cameras can have a lot of false positives. It will drive you crazy after a while.

What do you suggest as an alarm system?
Can an alarm system trigger the sound/flash of the cameras?
 
Short answer NO, Long answer YES. It would require certain firmware, linkage setup that might require hik-central (too expensive)

With alarm system you get to have outdoor sounder or even indoor as you please.

Any alarm system you pick will do better than using cameras to act like alarm system.

Cameras are still long way from having close to 100% human detection, regardless of new algorithms.
 
Personally here do not like the video motion algorithms. Especially for outdoor use. Went back to using outdoor combo PIR/Microwave motion detectors. While they are connected to the alarm they are used mostly for automation notifications and not to trigger the alarm.

One option would be to run a small server, running this software and forwarding the alarm sound via PoE speaker to the sleeping-room.
Like that, the network with the cameras, server and speaker remain separated from the network, connected to the internet.
The first software allows to use any neural network detector to optimise the alarms.
What do you think?
 
Way back I was running ONVIF to MQTT software and found that the video motion detection was too sensitive outside. This would be the same as running Home Assistant with an ONVIF add on and configuring it for motion. You can run Home Assistant on a RPI and trigger audio output chimes or even text to speech. If you have Alexa devices you also put put sound or chimes to alexa devices.

Better yet (which is what I am using) would be to use a combo wireless / microwave PIR connected to a Tasmota 433Mhz wireless hub which would connect to the home assistant running on the RPI. You would install the PIR next to the camera.

Camera ==> RPI running ONVIF MQTT software ==> Home Assistant ==> audio output

Wireless 433Mhz PIR ==> Wireless 433Mhz hub ==> Home Assistant ==> audio triggers
