I understand in the cliff notes T cpus aren’t recommended but it has a bench mark score of 7742. Compared to let’s say an i5-7600 with a bench mark of 6589. The i5-8500t is a mini vs the sff of the i5-7600. I like the size of the mini. Probably showing my ignorance here but something I’d like to know about. Thanks

Windows will activate when you instal the Operating system. Elitedesk is licensed in "pro" 64bit format so download Media Creation tool from Microsoft, and get Win 10 and let it install that.
The product key is embedded in the machine on some chip somewhere.

I’m trying to understand things here if the OS doesn’t reside on the hard drive where does it live? I assumed no hard drives no operating system.

you install the OS for free using the MS media creation tool. The license is tied to specific identifiers in the system - particularly the motherboard. There are some systems (very few probably 0.0001) percent that are sold without an OS or with linux for which this wont work. I have never encountered this. If you do, buy a lotto ticket.
Flintstone explained it above. The Win10Pro license is built into the BIOS/motherboard so when you load up Windows on a new SSD and use the Media Creation Tool to install Windows, you then have the OS.
