i7 4770K vs i5 10500T

I have 9 Cameras running full resolution (4 8MP and 5 5mp) using Blue Iris and Deepstack on my 4770k w/16gb of ram.

I`m not going to get into the config, but would I see a performance gain switching over to the 10500T with 64GB of ram. I know T series arent really the best for BI, but the i5 is a 6 core 12 thread vs the 4 core 4 thread i7. It works with H265 (I`m running 264)

Basically I got this PC sitting around and want to maybe "upgrade" my setup with it. It was built as a HTPC but I don't use it....
 
Couldn't hurt to try it. I saw a big difference from my i7-3770S Dell ( 4 core/8 thread) to the i5-8500 (6 core/ 6 thread) Hp Elitedesk.
Of course your also getting faster thru-put with DDR4....

I was running about 15 cams on the i7-3770s. And now running 17-18 cams on the i5-8500, and it's very responsive. Although I haven't bothered to mess with deepstack, as Simple motion works for my Location at this time.

If you are using substreams (highly recommended) I see no reason to change. If your 4770 is not running above 70% cpu load it is just a waste of money. Also 64GB is a waste of memory, BI will not use it.
The T processor are not designed to run at load 24/7/365. They are a laptop type processor.

If you're using substream like SouthernYankyee said above, I think any performance gain will be minimal. Overall, if you're using H265 with hardware acceleration, then I think you might see slight performance increase and system responsiveness overall since the passmark on the new processor is higher. Imo, the biggest gain here would be power consumption between the 4th and 10th gen processor, since one is 84W and the other is 35W. So if switching over the new system and it's most sitting idle with CPU utilization between 15-25%, I think you will notice it runs much cooler and use less power overall long term. This may give you more overhead as far as CPU utilization goes, which then can be used for Deepstack analysis.

I'm curious to see if it'll throttle when it gets stressed with video and if DeepStack is enabled.

CPU usage on the i5 is about half vs the i7 when running 2 instances at the same time...

The only issue is this is a Dell Micro 5080 and no sata connections. Need to figure out what to do for disk storage.

I'll bet there aren't any spare power connectors, or power supply capacity, either.

I thought you had a PC sitting around with a 10th gen cpu. Sounds like the T processor isnt your only hurdle. With no Sata hookups, things could get really interesting.

I looked up the Dell Optiplex 5080 Micro and looks like it only have 1 SATA port available and that only support 1 2.5" SSD or HDD. Since it has a M.2 nvme port and if you're not using that, then your only option is to buy a 256GB M.2 for the main OS drive and buy another 2.5" SATA hard drive at least 1-2TB for Blue Iris.

I bought a I9-10850 2xNvme 128g ram as a dedicated virtual server only for BI ;) and its running smooth of course.
It costed a little but the month after its just pure fun and also saves a lot of energy campares to the prior one.
No i dont use HW accelleration, runs fine with just horsepower,

build a new and effective one and have power for Deepstack etc.

I have a 1TB m.2 installed in it. That says connection is for a 2.5” platter drive. I have a ton of 1TB 2.5” drives laying around. The 4770k is in a 2U chassis with a 256gb sata drive, a 6tb wd and drive, and 3 more 1TB 2.5” drives. I’m not going to make the switch, it would be nice if somehow I could run deepstack on the 5080 as a standalone. I also have an older i5 6600 lying around but I need a motherboard for it
