Hello,

I’m leaning toward BI for my new setup instead of a NVR and was hoping I can repurpose my older desktop for it. It’s a 3GHz i7-950 with 24Gb RAM that I can reinstall with as newer OS (currently on Windows 7 64-bit). I plan to have 8 4K cameras recording 24/7 with motion detection going (facial recognition and LPR are on my wish list).

Do you think my current specs are sufficient or will I need a new setup?

Thank you!

For most, building is a waste of time and a waste of money. Purchase a Dell Optiplex 7040 MT (Mini-Tower) i7-6700. I have two such units; you won't be disappointed.
