Intel Driver Availability

I wonder if we can make some progress here, (ahem), to identify an Intel driver which delivers QuickSync for those of us who have a 7th Generation (Kaby Lake) CPU, which moreover is currently available for download from Intel. My impression reading reports on IPCT is that those with a 8th Generation CPU (Coffee Lake) don't have an issue with QuickSync not working. The Wiki here on Hardware Acceleration points to an out of date Driver for 7th Generation CPUs (15.45.18.4664), which anyway is no longer available for download from Intel.

Can anyone report that their BI system is working with QuickSync, and that they are using a 7th Generation CPU (eg i7-7700)? If so what Intel Driver are you using? No need to reply if it's a 4664, that Driver one is no longer available for download from Intel, nor approved for systems running W10.

Running BI on i7-6700 and QuickSync is working.
Thanks for posting this, but could you share your graphics driver version instead? This is the Ethernet driver.
 
Thanks! I was able to extract this driver from a Windows .cab file (couldn't find it directly from Intel) and it has worked great for the last couple of hours.

While I was given some google links to try, as the drivers do not install, maybe this one can be forced in?

I'm pretty surprised BlueIris has not done something to address this issue. They should have been able to provide an instruction set that can resolve this in a few steps, vs hunting around on line with trail and error.
I am regretting I upgraded to a new computer, and the v5. In fact since the last Bi update, it crashes more rapidly.

Ever bi machine should be a clean install of windows. If you did that you would be able to install any driver and not have crashing issue. There is no they in blue iris. It’s a guy in his house. If you want slow, rare updates and wiki pages there are another 100 vms options to choose from. Otherwise you’ll have to rely on forum support which as with every product is generally superior to direct support.
 
I would like someone to confirm which current Intel Graphics Driver will deliver to me working QuickSync on Blue Iris for my HP Elite Desk 800 G3 i7-7700 (Kaby Lake), onboard HD Graphics 630.
From what I read, Intel are switching from a more direct process of Driver updating using an .inf file to one which uses DCH Drivers, anything else is now Legacy as far as Intel and Microsoft are concerned.

I don't know, but it looks to me like Windows is slowly yet surely losing its carriage. I have other software apps on another windows machine having issues since some updates.

I wish there was some way to simply download the driver without the memeory issues, and install it. Its been months now. first I need a new driver. then I cannot install the drive, then how to force install the driver, then its which specific driver do you need for the DEll uhd630 Optiplex..... Then its like...Well IDK!

There are no issues with the current drivers as noted in the wiki. You can install the motor and driver on your PC google how to do it if they’ll won’t let you or follow the advice that has been previously given to you on multiple occasions and that is to do a clean windows installation using Microsoft media creation tool. This is not rocket science
 
fenderman, don't forget the Intel Driver Update tool. As it's best to run that first to get the latest drivers.

And it may possibly be a good idea to update the BIOS, and adjust BIOS settings as required.

And for unknown drivers, AIDA64 is a must have tool.
 
I'm currently using a NVidia quadro P1000 with blueiris. Couldn't be happier with the experience. Just FYI, NVidia locks the number of concurrent nvdec and nvenc sessions to 2, but quick googling will lead to a workaround for that. Quadro P1000 is a half-height, single slot GPU that is rated to draw at most 47 watts, and I am currently running 1200 mp/s H.264 on a single card. The NVDEC and NVENC chips are the same for almost all the NVidia cards in a given generation, so the video memory is your limiting factor. 4gb memory seems to be about the sweet spot where more dedicated memory on the graphics card no longer produces any benefit. Here is a good comparison of some of the NVidia cards on the market.

The problematic laptop was replaced with a mini desktop equipped with an NVidia Quadro P1000. The previous BI configuration was exported from the laptop and imported into the PC. The results are wonderful. All recorded footage is clean of any stuttering and/or smearing. The PC averages 20% CPU and 35% GPU while processing on average ~520 MP/s. We are also using the GPU for BVR. Even when doing highspeed playback over the web the GPU doesn't go over 50%. Seasoned SNMP data confirms there are no resource issues. Best of all, there was no magic to be had with drivers, it just worked!

This was the desired result and is our new baseline for BI builds. It also means we may potentially move away from Intel CPUs. For our typical use-case, this is the hassle-free solution. Appreciate the card suggestion, much thanks!

do your "clients" a favor and use an efficient intel system. Dont make them pay monthly electric bills because you attempted a laptop solution. There is absolutely no issues with intel HA, all the modern drivers are fine. You must disable all power saving functions of graphics adapter and connect the pc to a monitor or use a 5 dollar emulator (though after connecting to a monitor for a bit, my systems stopped tearing even with no monitor attached).

I love it when trunk slammers like you claim that money is not a factor but then you use a VMS like blue Iris because it’s cheap instead of a proper enterprise grade VMS. So make up your mind is money in issue or not? You imply that you are protecting some high value product or property and are using a $60 vms Design for homes in small businesses ?I’m also pointing out that you don’t know what you’re doing if you cannot get the Intel driver to work properly it’s simple and even novices can follow basic directions.
