Looking at the videos, are a few issues with the image quality both day and night, but then again for $99, you can't really complain. Good value for a home user.

Actually, it gets better...it's $80.:p

What/what does this camera phone home too?

I ran a packet capture and see UDP data going to the following after only a few minutes:

47.91.64.0/19
47.88.0.0/14
72.21.192.0/19
47.91.96.0/19
94.177.160.0/19

That is for the P2P service. It's Alibaba's USA servers. You can turn that off if you choose not to use the P2P and do port forwarding instead. To do so, simply turn this off:

What is the latest firmware?

I see nowhere on the GoSwiftSecurity site to download or read firmware changelogs. It appears mine is running: V4.31.4.8_180814
That is the latest. We should have another one being released very soon that addresses a few minor issues.

Can you help with the RTSP stream?

Nmap scan report for 172.25.5.10
Host is up (0.0012s latency).

PORT STATE SERVICE VERSION
22/tcp closed ssh
80/tcp open http
554/tcp open rtsp?

I've logged into the camera web interface, and under NETWORK -> RTSP I have it enabled, port 554, and anonymous login turned on. (This is a separate VLAN that has no access to the internet.)

The "Instruction" says:

rtsp://IP:Port/ch01/A
A:0(MainStream), 1(SubStream), 2(MobileStream)

I've tried the following formats in VLC with no go:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://172.25.5.10:554/ch01/A'. Check the log for details.
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://172.25.5.10:554/ch02/A'. Check the log for details.

Substitute "0" for "A" if Mainstream is wanted, as in:
Code:
rtsp://172.25.5.10:554/ch01/0

FWIW, if you paste your URL in using CODE (see + in menu) you won't get the smiley faces, etc.

Thanks Tony. Also, if you have trouble getting your rtsp stream displaying in something, you may have to switch it over to h.264. Ive noticed some applications wont accept the h.265

Doing some more traffic sniffing, I have a few more things:

1) I disabled the P2P switch in the configs, yet I still see it querying DNS for Amazon Cloud records.
2) Why does it default query for an AAAA record when I see nowhere in the config for IPv6, and it doesn't appear to be compatible.
3) I opened up limited ports on my VLAN for this cam, DNS (53), 465 & 587 (SMTP with TLS/SSL), and NTP (123). Looking at the traffic sniffing, it requests 2-3 times for an AAAA record for smtp.gmail.com and then it requests a single time for an A record. After that it gives up.

I have pfSense to log any packets on these ports listed above, and don't see a single packet for SMTP. Does the email functionality work?

So far it seems like a decent camera, I have only had limited amounts of time to play with it today.

I have been running one since Early October, I also checked the outgoing traffic going out and turned off p2p, The cam has performed very well.

Its possible that is traffic for the time server, ddns, and email servers. Even if you arent using it or have it setup, im curious if it tries to attempt to make it happen anyways by defaut. Honestly, im not sure though, I'd have to ask the factory.

Yeah the email alerts work no problem. Tested and confirmed with Gmail. The one thing we are trying to get fixed on the newer firmware is to get an email snapshot at the beginning of the motion event. Currently its sending the email snapshot near the end of the motion event. But as far as generally working, it does no problem.

These cameras look great. My only concern is them phoning home to the heart of red China. I think anyone should ask these questions before hooking these up to their internet. I'd buy one if we could flash our own firmware, there is too much junk that could be hidden.
