iOS app won't connect over WAN

I have a user with the iOS app on his iPhone that won't connect via the WAN. It will however connect when on the local Wifi. I verified the wan settings and they are the same as I use on my android app which works fine. I also checked and the iPhone can connect over the wan if using a browser.

I am still running v4 of BI but the iPhone and app are the latest and greatest versions. I'm not very knowledgeable with iOS but I would assume if the app will connect locally then it should over the wan if the settings are correct. I did check our firewall and can see the packets coming in and being forwarded to the BI server. Not sure what's going on.
