I put this guy up and for some reason, and I can put my finger on it, this picture just looks strange. The grass kind of looks like digital or something. The camera is on the default settings but I feel like I have tweaked most of them.

Any suggestions?

IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV is the camera.

That 3849 is an 8MP on a 1/2.8" sensor, so it is on a horrible MP/sensor ratio.

Even worse, this 8MP is on the same sensor and CPU as a 2MP non TIOC camera and there are many threads here showing how under-performing that 3849 is. They had to limit bitrate and other parameters on the 3849 to try to make it functional, and it just doesn't cut it.

Unfortunately for you, this is a great example demonstrating why so many here say to chase sensor size and not MP.

I have realized that and recently ordered a 4MP with a 1/1.8 sensor and am awaiting stock of IPC-Color4K-X. Just didn't know if there was anything I could do to make it palatable.

Unfortunately not as the little CPU in that camera is maxing out and cannot process anymore. It is like putting a Ford Pinto engine in a Ford F-450 pickup truck and expecting it to be able to tow. Heck it would have trouble with just the F-450 body and chassis LOL.

The 4MP on the 1/1.8" sensor or the Color4K-X are the way to go.

Yep, most of us have been there at some point LOL.

And manufacturers know that the average consumer chases MP over quality, so it continues LOL.

That is why a common theme around here is chase sensor size.

The 4MP TIOC isn't too bad - at least it works LOL.

First of all, the processor used by HDW3849H-AS-PV is not good.
Can't handle too many 3DNR or 2DNR operations.
CMOS performance is not good, resulting in too many noises.
The processor is too late to compute.
Dahua 4K Chinese Camera (IPC-HFW4843F1-ZYL) has 1/1.8" CMOS+ SSC339G processor.
There won't be such a situation.

+1 on the Color4K-X - It is incredible with just the tiniest amount of light.

Maybe you should change to IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV-S3
It is an improved version of IPC-HDW3849H-AS-PV
The processor SigmaStar SSC338G is upgraded to hisilicon Hi3516AV300
Aperture upgraded to F1.0

SigmaStar is a subsidiary of MediaTek.
Started as a copycat mobile phone processor .
Every time a new processor is announced, it’s bragging.:lmao:

I came here because I was looking for HDW3849H-AS-PV-S3 on Google. I have 2 HDW3849H-AS-PV watching my driveway, but I haven't noticed any wrong, unless I don't know what wrong is of course. I just wanted to buy one more to replace my IPC-HDW5831R-ZE which is missing or not recording 15% of the cars passing in front of my front gate.

I can't find the HDW3849H-AS-PV-S3 to buy on the net. Is it already released?

No 2 and 3 are the HDW3849H-AS-PV
