After long research into cams with microphone, I decided to give this new one a try. Will be my first Dahua. I have actually only seen one daylight video and with 1/3 sensor I expect it to perform just as bad... err well... whatever for night time outdoors, but I really need one for indoors. Wish me luck :)

My main concern:
Would I have any issues recording sound with Hikvision NVR using ONVIF profile?

I have one on order too for use with a Q-See QC8816 NVR. Was planning on posting back when it comes in too.

I'm interested in this cam, especially in the night time footage using IR. If you have any feedback or footage I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the update... I'm still interested to learn about your experience. In the other thread it is mentioned that only after switching to MPEG the microphone audio was ok. I hope this is a one off as having to use MPEG2 just to resolve this would be a bummer.

It was just shipped so might be couple of weeks. Frankly I am not expecting this to be on the same level as Longse or Huisun but I hope microphone will be good quality.

I cant find 4431 cameras in any search. Only 4421's. I'm waiting on 2 4421-c to ship 6mm and 8mm. To cover the entry of my driveway about 100' away. Hoping the lenses are sufficient.I do have several 4300-c with audio/mic that do good imho with picking up audio. up close conversations are decent (less than 25') cars/mechanical noise at 100+ feet it picks up very well. Voices at 100' Ive yet to be able to distinguish what was said but at that range I wouldn't expect much. If yours are similar you will most likely be satisfied. I assume there probably using the same audio hardware.

Received my first Dahua today. Initial impression: it's ok...

I won't go into too much detail just overall:

Build quality: Cheap feeling of the plastic base and no way to fix the position

Image quality: Soft a bit grainy image day and night. I've set everything to max H.265, 10k bit rate 4k etc... and wait for it... it actually worse then two year old 2432!

Microphone quality: Excellent. Much much better then Hikvision 2432s.

User Interface: Very good, actually I like it very much

Anyway, I'll play a bit with it, but if I can't improve IQ I'll probably end up returning it

that was a suspiciously cheap camera, how's the h264? my dahuas are mostly metal, I know people are very fond of turrets but I stuck w/bullets for the metal casing and better mounting..

ive got one really cheap dahua and ive never been all that happy with it, but it watches almost nothing so it has survived waiting for me to upgrade one of the better ones.

The turret ball is metal just like Hikvision, but the base/enclosure isn't. I am not too concerned though, I knew it wasn't going to be amazing build quality, but IQ is huge disappointment. I didn't expect to be blown away, but I did expect it would be at least as good as Hikvision 4MP, but it turned to be worse then 3MP... I tried H.264 and other H.264H/H.264B these are even worse.

Images are re sized, so they will appear better then full resolution.

looks like its just a smudge out of focus, can you twist the lens at all? sometimes u gotta take alot of stuff apart to fix the focus but something happens in shipping that throws it off just a hair

Yes, out of focus looks like another issue and no way to adjust the lens without taking it apart, but also there is more noise then in Hik in full resolution

That's strange, MnC's cam didn't seem to have a focus issue like that. If that wasn't there, i'd imagine tweaking some settings could help more with the grain; adjusting my other Dahua based cams from standard settings helped a bunch. I'd assumed this camera was mostly the same optics as the 4421 but with an updated chipset that supports h265, and there's numerous examples on that one that seem decent.

I've got mine coming in the next week or two, so I'll check out the focus/grain on mine when it gets here.

BTW, does turning on WDR help at all? Wondering how well the true WDR works indoors for spots like the right area that go completely black.

I reset the settings and wiped the lens just in case and that actually improved image. No idea what caused initial crappy picture, but it's certainly better now. Found WDR setting which was off. In the end image is slightly better then 2432, but I will be tweaking to improve grain and softness.

I'd say that does look a little better.
However, it seems to me that either the Dahua has a smaller depth of focus than the other samples, or the focus point is a little off.
The distant objects are not in focus, near ones are.
The Longse looks very good.

Yes, image is soft on distant objects, probably nature of the small sensor combined with NR. I did bump up the sharpness and that didn't do much difference. I will play a bit more tonight with the settings, but I think this is as good as it gets with this cam. The only thing that would make me keep it is the microphone and that fact that it works perfectly with Hikvision NVR. I can get the audio stream in the live view, recorded view and extracted file. So far I only found that AAC audio codec works in all 3 scenarios. This is where I had troubles with 2432.
