Yes this was first introduced when they updated Volt FW for the color 4K as I showed in that video but the granularity and extra options such as ‘inside’ and sensitivity are a great bonus for all Volt based cams
First, the build date: I am talking about the
28-08-2021 FW that I got from Andy. As I felt more and more comfortable with it, I changed 8 5442 cams (4X T-ZE and 4X E-ZE).
Since writing the last post, it happened again (the dog episode). I cannot say I remember if the May FW made problems only at night time, but all of the false positives and false negatives I mentioned with that FW happened at night time (IR light).
The May FW was also working okay most of the time but I got used to having it close to 100% by the Dec FW and that's how it should and can perform.
Funny you've mentioned the color 4K in here cause both me and my sister have that cam and suffering from the same problem:
My dog was the first two IVS tripwire catches of my color 4K. my sister was happy to find that her dog was caught by the IVS but I'm afraid that for others, it's not a feature - it's a bug.
My sister also suffers from many false alarms but cats.
Since it also happens with the color 4K cam, it looks like it's got nothing to do with the darkness nor night time nor smart IR (that the current version 28-08-2021 does not have anyway).
I tend to blame the SMD 3.0 because since it was introduced, the SMD did not become reliable, the IVS got screwed.
I'll keep testing and updating but eventually, I'll have to revert to Dec 2020 firmware.
For the 5442 cams, it least I have the old FW to revert to. With the color 4K I'm screwed.
Having said that, I must also say that both me and my sister just changed to the
08-09-2021 FW (for the color 4K cams) so I cannot say for sure if that version also suffers from IVS problems but I tend to think it does. We'd still have to wait to see if the problem also exist with the current FW
