Is POE voltage critical on an NVR

Hi all,

New to security cameras and set up but have some basic computer and networking knowledge. Recently bought some IP cameras on an auction but didn't win an NVR. I have two brands of cameras, Truvision wedge TVW-5302 x 3 and Illustra Flex 3mp indoor Mini-dome (IFS03D1ICWTT). According to there specs both types require 12vdc and this can be supplied by POE.

Would like to buy a NVR preferably HIKVISION but not sure what to look for regarding powering these cameras via POE. Something I can access remotely with an iPhone with about 1 week of storage or more.

How critical is the POE voltage from the NVR?
Does this voltage need to be specified when buying an NVR?
Can anyone recommend a suitable NVR for these cameras?

Thanks In Advance

Look the specs on that cameras for poe. The standard is IEEE 802.3af and IEEE 802.3at Usually nvrs have that poe standards. Dont confuse the 12vdc with the poe voltage that says 48-52 voltage because the 12vdc that camera want is for connecting power to the jack and not to the rj45. If it says standard poe it is ok

As a side note, to get the most functionality out of a NVR/camera system they both need to be the same brand, IE: Hikvision NVR with Hikvision cameras. You may or may not even be able to get those cameras recognized by a different brand NVR.

Read the information in the Wiki, in the blue bar at the top of the page. Lots of very useful information in there and it's quite a long read of many documents. Read it all on a real PC and not a phone or tablet.

^^^ agreed. The only thing you might be able to do is set them to onvif so they show in the nvr channel. But you'll have to be fine with no motion detection, only continuous recording.

On the NVR and cameras, some of the manufactures do not allow the mixing of cameras from different regions. So a hacked Chinese camera and an international NVR may not work together, even from the same manufacture.
