Hi, i would like to know someone experienced opinion what brand and model to choose. I live in an high-rise condo and have about 20km view on nature and buildings. Would like to watch close and far objects so long zoom is neccessary. Day and night time, so low light performance is important too. Is it wort to look at some hikvision /dahua models or what u recommend? Also is it better to go with 8MP ( for more digital zoom) or stay 2MP? The budget is 4000$. thanx for suggestions

I have tried 6 Hikvision PTZs from low budget upwards, and am currently using a Darkfighter X camera...DS-2DF8225IH. This is excellent in low light but my subjects (animals) are only 30m away maximum, so I can’t comment on its performance from very long distance. The odd thing is that the Darkfighter X is better in low light than the Darkfighter (I also have a 8225IX) but on zero light, so IR only, the Darkfighter is better than the Darkfighter X. So I use one in low light (LEDs) and another in darkness.

Anyway, with this in mind, you should maybe check out the new Darkfighter X, which is 4mp and 35x zoom. Model is DS-2DF9C435IH-DLW

Others can let you know what Dahua have hopefully...there are some Dahua PTZs in the cliff notes...

I think Darkfighter is similar to Dahua’s Starlight cameras...not sure if there are ‘super’ Starlights, like Darkfighter X

I have a few Dahua large PTZ cams, the 48x is the largest zoom from their Ultra series and It is one big camera with a big price tag. It does a good job and is a great camera.
Also a 4k PTZ with 30X and I can say when you use the digital zoom it is blahhhh for image. A couple X is ok but after that it gets crappy.

They are about to release a 50x, AI PTZ in their Ultra series for a couple grand..
With your budget you could get both a 4k and 2mp.. :ohsnap:

If that is Taiwanese dollars (TWD?) then it converts to about $128 USD which means you can forget about getting a quality PTZ. Similar if it is "THB" or "Thai Baht".

    What currency is it?

thanx for all suggestions. Budget is of course USD. Currently considering the Dahua SD8A840VI-HNI, seems to have much better DORI specs than SD10A248V-HNI. I cant find much info on SD10A848V-HNI even on the dahua official site, any idea why ? I would like to stick with 4K camera for better picture quality.

    I have two DS-DF8836IX-AELW from Hikvision. 4K with 36 x Heavy 17.5 lbs
They are 100 ft up a tower. Work well and I use the microphone input.
Don’t know how they compare with Dahua. Under 3k from EMPIRETECANDY

One way to shop the Dahua PTZ lineup is to consult their catalog, found in this post:
