Linksys WVC54GCA Cannot connect in Blue Iris

Greets all,

I cannot seem to connect to my Linksys WVC54GCA camera from Blue Iris.

I have an evaluation version of Security Monitor Pro and I also have a Vera 3 Home Automation controller and both of them are able to acquire video from this camera so I am pretty sure that I am using a valid username and password as well as other pertinent settings.

I have tried both MPEG and RTSP as well as all the Paths that I could find (asf, mjpeg, sav, asf, etc.). I don't have a problem with any of my other four cameras with BI - three Foscam and a Linksys WVC80N.

I am evaluating different software packages to monitor my cameras and really like Blue Iris, but this problem is going to be a deal killer since I have no such issues with this camera using other software products. Does anyone have any clues of things I can check or try here?

By the way, the error in the window after it fails says "RTSP: 503 Service Unavailable" when I use the RTSP settings and otherwise it complains about the username/password when I try to use MPEG even though I know that I have the correct user/password settings. As well, I am careful not to exceed the 4 connection limit so that is not it either - but even so I shut down all other connections to see if that did the trick and it did not.

@mdp716Welcome to the forum..What camera are you using from the drop down menu? WVCXX h.264?
Make sure you have the correct ports set...default rtsp is 554 on that camera..you download fing on your mobile app then click on the cameras ip address then scan services and it will tell you the rtsp port.
Finally, try alerting the path in to /img/video.sav instead of media.sav
I am 100 percent certain that the camera works with Blue iris...there is a setting issue here.

Thanks for your reply federman. WVCXX h.264 is not an option. I have tried both Linksys WVCxx MPEG4 and Linksys WVCxx RTSP with equally no success. When I click on "Inspect now..." I get the following results:

…and the resulting selection is “RTSP H.264/MJPG/MPEG4 with a path of “/” and all other settings are also left at default.

If I then click on OK and OK without making any changes I get “RTSP: 503 Service Unavailable.”

By using the defaults port 554 is left as the RTSP port. As stated, Security Monitor Pro version 5 identified and configured this camera without an issue as is also the case with iSpy and as well, the Vera 3 Controller - though none seem to expose similarly named settings that I can look at and transfer over to Blue Iris.

Not sure what you mean by "you download fing on your mobile app then click on the cameras ip address then scan services and it will tell you the rtsp port" as I don't know what 'fing' is and if the objective is to learn the RTSP port, it is already set to 554 in the cameras web base UI settings so that exercise would only confirm that fact.

Yes fing is meant to scan the ports and tell you what ports are being broadcast..
Have you tried changing the path as suggested? I believe ispy will tell you the path its using as well.
You can try one of these paths as well..try the rtsp paths first..The camera is known to work with blue iris.

Thanks for that. The quick answer is that after selecting "Linksys WVCxx RTSP" once again and then simply clicking "OK" and "OK" I again got an error but after about five seconds the error went away and video became viewable.

I can assure you that I have been here before with those exact same settings without those same results so I have no idea what kicked what in the pants to get it to work all of a sudden like that. Being a Principal Systems Engineer with over 25 years in the I.T. line of work I can assure you that I tried all available options I could conger up and RTFM as best as I could before I posted my OP.

Now if I can get Pan/Tilt controls to work with the Foscam FI8919W camera I'd be golden with all five of my cameras.

Great..Have you enabled ptz in the ptz tab of the camera? and selected the proper camera in the ptz dropdown?

It is a Foscam FI8919W camera and I have "Foscam FI89xx/w compatible" selected (it was auto selected after clicking "Inspect now..."). I do have video.

On the PTZ/Control I have all the defaults which includes the Enable Pan/Tilt/Zoom... checkbox being checked. Even tried deselecting it and going back to the video and then reselecting it. Just in case toggling it would give it a nudge.

It also has the latest firmware and Embedded Web UI Version in case that becomes a question.

Are you using default ports on the camera? have you selected Foscam FI89xx/w in the ptz tab as well?

Don't know why, but your questions made me think about something and I figured out what the problem was. The user account I set up on the camera for Blue Iris was set as "Visitor" and when I changed that to "Operator" and then stopped and restarted Blue Iris the PT functions began to work.

Obvious solution that wasn't so obvious... Thanks for your time.
