I'm not really sure where to post this, as it could have to do with camera installation and/or software installation.

We have alarm.com installed here at the house and we love it, but it's not ideal for business since we can only view 4 cameras at a time, and they timeout. We can use a smart TV with the amp, but we still can't view more than 4 cameras at one time. We have two gun shops and we have 26 cameras at one shop and 16 at the other shop. Currently we use Smart PSS on our computer screen to view 25 of the cameras (combined from both shops) we like to monitor during the day from our desks. 4 of us are monitoring videos with separate displays on our desk. The Smart PSS software is not that great... constantly timing out or having other issues... playback is challenging as well. Getting video clips is difficult. So... we are looking for a new system.

We would like to have a system that will capture clips after hours similar to alarm.com... which can be set up to capture our parking lot after hours (without the street portion) and record clips if someone drives into the parking lot .... or if someone walks thru the parking lot, etc. We also like the idea of having cloud storage vs only the DVR that we currently have.

Any suggestions for companies similar to alarm.com that might have a more robust software setup would be much appreciated.

Regards,
Sonnie

Welcome @Sonnie,

"Currently we use Smart PSS on our computer screen to view 25 of the cameras (combined from both shops) .. "

You could have an issue with hardware being too encumbered in encode / decoding .. or possible issues on the network side .. internet connectivity / lag / router ..

SO it may actually not be the SmartPSS software having the issues ..

getting video clips from an IVMS software is going to be taxing on the network compared to getting it from the NVR because all of them send to ivms software the data raw so it has to be encoded by the ivms. The NVR does this internally because its the encoding server for all remote viewing. Most modern NVRs have a way of mounting a cloud storage folder in their "drives" list.
Also, look in the NVR to see if there is a session time limit placed on remote connections. That is common setting that boots people out of their remote viewing.

I can recommend to you a Hikvision system. But you are going to run into the same issues remote downloading clips, because its going to be the same reguardless who's system you use.

Think I'm going to try Camect with an 8TB SSD unit for local storage, and then use cloud as well, which seems pretty cheap these days. There won't be that many clips in this case... only if someone gets really close to our building after hours, otherwise it will be recording 24/7 and marking anything we want to mark in various zones after hours. If a person comes within 6 feet of our building after hours, it will alert me on that. Might also catch cars coming into the parking lot too.

I don't think clips like we have here at home with alarm.com will be necessary. We use 12,000+ clips per monthly with alarm.com with all the animals (a cat on the move constantly and lots of deer) and cars coming and going... and people... all being video clipped here at home every day and night. Shouldn't be anything even remotely close to that at the shop. Camect can exclude cats and dogs with their AI.

We went thru the network with a fine tooth comb... it's all good... tested it thoroughly, no issues there... blazing fast speeds with no lag.
