Lorex LNE8950A anyone tried?

Looking for a good camera with color night option. Was looking at the lorex LNE8950A

Lorex looks to be charging a bit for that model. You can compare it to a Dahua OEM IPC-HDW48xx model.

The sensor is a 1/2.5" 8MP - so you may want to look for a model that has a 1/1.8" sensor and can perform better.

I'd check with our vendors here that carry Dahua OEM products ( Andy and Amcrest ) and see what they have available. Also do look at reviews for similar spec'ed models and see how well they perform before making a find pick on it.

A lot of the "color night vision" on those models is not as good as you may think based on the marketing material.

So if you have not yet picked up those cameras I would suggest holding off until you look at the reviews and comparisons here.

I have looked at a ton of different models. Just hard to pick which one would do the best in very low light and be color and night. Plus a reasonable price.

Check for SouthernYankee's welcome message. I have not kept up with some of the newer models - so you'll need to see what he lists out worth checking out, and then look for member reviews.

If you want a Lorex branded camera get one of these, they all the larger 1/1.8 sensor. I own the first one and it's awesome! It also has a built in microphone and speaker as well. I didn't like how the POE version only came in black so I painted it white. All 3 are 8 MP and work great at night.

You should do a review of these. Post some night video of someone walking etc so we can see how they stack up.
