We are experiencing a similar problem with our Lorex N846A6. We previously had a thumb USB drive that was 'recognized' and to which we were able to back up files. In view of its small capacity, we replaced it with a 5TB USB-powered drive. The Lorex doesn't see this drive. Any attempt to reformat it (it was previously formatted) is met by the above-noted "Disc not present". The Lorex suggests that the "Device Model" connected to the USB port is: sdb2(USB USB) which we suspect represents the previously used USB thumb drive. Is it possible that this prior 'registration' is blocking our attempt to add/substitute the new disc drive? Is there a way to delete/unmount this prior thumb drive?

As a follow-up to our above post, we substituted a Western Digital 4TB USB-powered USB drive for the 5TB Seagate (the 'non-recognized' drive of the above post). The Lorex reported the substituted WD drive as "Device Model": sdb1(USB USB) but, more significantly, Lorex 'saw' this drive, reported its size correctly, and allowed us to reformat the substituted WD Drive. This substitution, while not answering the question reported by us (and others) in this forum (i.e. why the first USB drive wasn't being acknowledged by Lorex), it does solve our immediate problem. We'll leave the Western Digital connected to the Lorex and use the Seagate in some other capacity.

Just curious, what is the reported capacity for your 4TB WD in the Lorex? Is it 3.27 TB?

I'm having trouble getting the Lorex to recognize the full capacity of various USB HD. Sometimes it's 561.49GB (for 5TB drives, WD or Seagate, USB powered), sometimes it's 3.27TB (for 8TB Seagate, external powered).

Is there a max size limit of external HD for Lorex NVRs (ours is N882)?

Actual hard drive capacity is always lower than "published/marketed" hard drive size. It is our understanding that this discrepancy is related to differences in measuring capacity between decimal and binary. Your numbers, however, don't make sense to us - - the discrepancies are too large and we've never seen drives report more capacity than the published number. Concerning the maximum capacity for Lorex systems, we found some evidence that the internal HD may be limited to 6TB, but could find no limitation on the external USB drive.
