Because that would then add more complexity to the firmware and more troubleshooting issues for the hotline - what computer are your on, what version of Windows, what browser are you using, etc. It just adds too much complexity to a non-computer person to try to troubleshoot when calling an 800 number.
And Lorex is Dahua OEM, so their firmware is centered around Internet Explorer, and many people do not want to use it or depending on their device, may not even have access to it.
That doesn't make it right, but the camera manufactures that cater to the general public try to dumb it down to the least common denominator, and an app and scan a QR code is about as easy as it gets, yet the 800 number is constantly called with people that cannot even do that right LOL.
I guess they figure if you want access via a browser, you would probably skip the consumer grade and go straight to a Dahua cam LOL.
I've been using Chrome since I bought my first Dahua camera from Andy last year (the good 'ol 4231's). I was able to log in, see menu options, do the config, save, logout....all done. Always wondered how folks were able to see the AI detection boxes livestream and other stuff which I thought...
