Hey I'm with Tangent on the electrical charge on the box. But as the law would have he would sue you for damages. I'd go with the blow up photo, My guess once he sees hiself on recorded mater he'll move on.

I checked a few plate variants, and this was the only valid one and it just so happens to belong to a volvo.

The car was a total loss in October, so it was likely purchased cheap at auction. The plates seem to match the vehicle.
Double post.

Couple of things. You could change style of your mail box to one with a lock. Then why is he only coming to your mailbox? With a license plate number, car description and a good picture of the culprit they should be able to get the guy.

Thanks for this...I'm gonna do it. I haven't had a mail theft issue but I am getting tired of having to shred blank checks that come monthly from my B of A Visa.
To stop those stupid 'super checks' you may have to contact the issuing bank.

My guess is that this guy is using your address for a credit card theft ring or drug shipments. I would stay away from putting his picture in your mailbox so he sees it. Better to see if local PD can squat on your house if his timing has any consistencies. Also, it seems like hes wearing the same clothes every visit... anyone else notice that?

^^^^^^^^^^That would explain why he seems to only be going to the OP's mailbox. He is driving right by the others in the neighborhood.

Just an update as of 2/4. I was able to get the Sheriff's office to send another squad car to give them new information. They where pretty interested in finding out why he only stops at my mailbox. They went over some of the videos with me and took copies of the videos along with the plate # and Vin #.

I pointed out the scumbag always wears the same shirt, shorts, and Raider hat. They asked me to reach out to the postmaster again and see if they can append the new video to their report as well. He gave me some of the same tips you all have given, such as a secured mailbox or a P.O. Box, I already bought a secured mailbox with lock/key so that'll be going up this weekend. Asked me to keep an eye on credit report, put credit on freeze etc.. Hoping they catch this scumbag, if I get any other updates from them I'll be sure to post them. Thanks again for every ones help, greatly appreciate it.

Already started mapping out my new cameras (Dahua Starlights) using the camera calculator site, to hopefully focus in on some of the outside areas to better ID these dirt bags.

Contact your Postmaster. This is a Federal Offense, they will take over from the locals and get this guy.

Mailboxes are considered federal property, and federal law (Title 18, United States Code, Section 1705), makes it a crime to vandalize them (or to injure, deface or destroy any mail deposited in them). Violators can be fined up to $250,000, or imprisoned for up to three years, for each act of vandalism.

Postal Inspectors recommend these actions to protect your mailbox and any mail that may be inside it:

  • Immediately report theft, tampering, or destruction of mail or mailboxes to your Postmaster. Or click here to report it to the Postal Inspectors online, or call 1-877-876-2455 (press 5).
  • Obtain Label 33 from the Postal Inspection Service and affix it to your mailbox. The sticker warns that willful damage to mailboxes and theft of mail are crimes.
  • Keep your mailbox in good repair, and make sure it’s properly installed. This may help prevent theft of the mailbox itself.
If you have information on mailbox vandalism, call the Postal Inspection Service to report it. Your cooperation helps apprehend violators. You may provide your information or complaints to your local postmaster or your nearest Posta

I agree. I think it's more likely he's using your address for drug shipments or similar.

From at least 1 of your videos, it shows him removing a parcel.

Simple fact is, you'd know if you'd ordered a parcel and it hadn't arrived (because he'd stolen it). So the fact parcels are arriving and being taken from your mailbox without you suffering any loss suggests it's his mail being directed there, and the most likely reason you'd want to re-direct mail to someone else's address is because it contains something illegal such as drugs, firearms, illegal porn or stolen items such as CC's.

Personally, I'd avoid putting a picture of him up on your mail box. If he knows you have him on CCTV, it might make you a target, especially if he believes you haven't already handed it over to the police. That's setting you up for a retrieval burglary at the least as he's going to want the footage, or potentially a revenge shooting at the worst. I'm going to hazard a guess the reason he's using a totalled auction car is because it isn't easily traceable. Probably bought for cash from the person who bought it at auction and not registered. I doubt he'd buy from the auction directly, too traceable due to the paperwork and CCTV.

The obvious course of action here would be to point out to the police that you're not missing any mail so you suspect he might be shipping drugs or similar to your address. If it's delivered on a specific day / s, maybe you could persuade someone from the PD to intercept the mail man or the mail at your address and look inside for you. If it's something legal but embarrassing like sex toys that will be the end of it. If it's something illegal, it will probably lead to a stakeout and arrest. Either way, it lets you get on with your life - if it's legal but something he didn't want delivered to his home, you put up a locking box. If it's illegal, he goes to prison. Either way, case closed.

This what I changed to several years ago. I also changed out the lock itself to a round key type.
Cost about $ 100.00 plus a Post (I made my own out of 4" square steel I had laying around).

That's actually the mailbox I purchased from Amazon a week ago. Will be going up this weekend.I honestly think he may have taken one of those pre-approved CC applications and possibly waiting for it to arrive, I don't think it's drugs or things getting delivered to my home. As I've had informed delivery for about 3 weeks now, and nothing abnormal is showing up to be delivered.

Below is the first time he came by (had an accomplice), I went through video before this and never had an issue with my mailbox door being down. He took something on the first two nights, and why he probably keeps returning. Either way hope the police catch up to him.
