Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Yeah, I know there is a whole thread on LPR advice. I was just spitball here and sitting if this may work. I appreciate your help.
This is it, you don't have read the whole Thread but I found some very good advise here...

Thank you!

Given a distance of around 80 ft, would you choose the 5442-Z4E-S3 over the 5241-Z12E-S2 for LPR? From what I've read, it looks like if the range works for Z4E it would be preferable to the Z12E, is that correct?

Personally I would go with the Z12E at 80 feet.

People underestimate distances or you have to adjust it to get a better angle and 80 feet now becomes 100 feet.

Keep in mind that the Z12E is like double the focal length of the Z4E, so it is more of getting the right one for the distance you need.

Personally I feel like the Z4E is good to about 60 feet. Some people are comfortable with it at 80 or 90 feet.

Also depends on the kind of plates you have - the stamped plates can be read at a longer distance with the Z4E than the printed plates.

Take this advice from Witt.
I am using a Z4 at about 80 foot right now for license plates but I wish I had a Z 12. I did not intend for my Z4 to read plates but I had an extra one laying around so that’s what I’m using it for. The extra focal length for that Z 12 would really Zoom in on the plates extremely well in my situation.

FYI, here are a few caps from my Z4E in daylight. This is the older version, not the S2.
