Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

If you have other cameras to capture the details, then you can run a slower shutter on an overview to get color.

So two schools of thought are run the camera in color with the fastest shutter you can that it still works in color. Might be 1/30 or 1/60.

Or add a true overview cameras like a 180 camera and use it on default settings, recognizing that you won't get IDENTIFY, but you will get color.
Well you convinced me to get a a true 180 cam...lol I just purchased the IPC-Color4K-B180.. HA

I'm struggling with setting those cameras at my house which is located in a forest in total darkness that makes walking around the house difficult. Six of them will have no additional light, two of them - an annoying lighting triggered by pedestrian movement. I am using our's friend @Alaska Country settings for now (attached) but clearly I live in another world. Can some suggest something? I have "time plan settings" ready for customized scene day and night SR -1h, SS +1h but have no idea how to deal with that darkness and with those two cameras and triggered lamp. And there is no way of installing additional light for now. I have newest animal software.

Are you using the internal IR? Total darkness should not matter if you are using IR. Post video or at least some stills that show your FOV.

Edit: looked at your settings. For night you will NOT be able to keep it in color mode. Need to go to B&W and set the illuminator on.

The pedestrian issue can be solved by the use of trip wires instead of motion detection. That's a simple fix.

I have one of my cameras directed toward the woods at night with no light, except for the built-in IR, and it is amazing. Here is a clip from last night. Even with the fog rolling in, it does a great job capturing what is happening.

AI SSA (Scene Self-adaption) technology is based on deep learning algorithm that can intelligently identify multiple scenes and adjust to their optimal images.

So the grey one already include in the AI SSA, if you want DIY the settings, just disable the AI SSA. The camera you are using is the 4K model IPC-T58IR-ZE S3

I have a question concerning recording schedule. I am using NVR5216-16P-El and 8x 5442-ZE S3 cameras. Everything is set to acupick and I set tripwires on each camera. I want to have 24hrs of record and be able to use acupick „easy search” fratures. Right now I set it like on pthe picture:

However as you can expect with those settings I can record 1/3 of what I could if I was using default only.

So when I set record schedule to default I realized that acupick is still working! I can search for only human, only cars, animals.. I can’t see the difference except for higher hdd space. Same for DMSS. It looks same.

That isn't acupick. You can search by those features without acupick turned on.

Acupick is a function where you can select an image (say a specific person or car) and it will show you which cameras captured that specific person or car.

For home use it isn't really of any value and uses up resources that could otherwise be used for other features.

I would like to update my cam but have some queries. I've no issues but just want to move to the latest firmware.

  • will I lose my settings after update?
  • the update info says "Please update the 2 files one by one, and make a default after you finish the updating.", what is meant with make a default after you finish the updating?
  • restart cam after update?

Best practice is to:
  • Factory reset 3 times
  • Apply firmware updates
  • Factory reset 3 times
In doing so, the camera will lose its settings and you will need to set up from scratch.

Doesn't mean people don't have issues that don't follow this, but people that get under the hood of the firmware shows it can sometimes take a few factory resets to shake out the corrupt files if they happen.

Are you updating for animal detection (a new feature you want) or just for kicks and grins?

Question, does these Dahua CAMs have batteries? We found in the Doorbell CAMs they do and in order to fully reset them you have to leave power Off long enough for the battery to drain.

You can just factory reset by pushing the button or doing it in the camera GUI.

Most here would opt for the button if possible.

Kicks and grins - meaning most here only update IF the release notes say it fixes a problem they have - so if your camera is working properly, don't update it just to be on newer firmware. We have threads every week where an update removes a feature someone was using.
