Mini-Review EmpireTech IPC-Color4M-T

Awesome!! Thank you for the lightning-fast response! (FWIW, I asked Andy privately, but haven't received any reply about this same question in 2 days, so I very much appreciate the info)

Bonus question: Don't suppose any of the other substreams allow MJPEG streams? (say one of lower resolution, maybe 1280x720?)

no, dahua have only mjpeg on first sub stream..

I think that some hik-vision cams have better flexibility here..

I'm trying to run this camera through Blue iris - Works great apart from when BI triggers the camera doesn't switch to full color - As I'm guess that'll need to trigger from the Camera itself. I know on the older model camers you could use the URL to switch profiles/ night/day mode etc. does anyone that has these cameras know if thats possible to still do in BI and if so what the URL is and parameters are?

Is the Hikvision equivalent model better at night?
DS-2CD2347G3-L 0.0001 Lux@F1.0
IPC-Color4M-T 0.0005 Lux@F1.0

At this moment ColorVu G3 is not available in distribution and there is not tests or reviews.
But both are created on the same sensor and SOC (chipset) platform so they should have the same performance.

PS. Lux ratings provided by both Dahua & HIK are completely made up and in many cases don't have any sense..

Thank you! And what’s your preferred way to install firmware updates? I would be using the cameras GUI on a computer. Thank you!

Best practice is 3 factory resets, load firmware, 3 factory resets and set up camera from scratch.

Doesn't mean you won't have problems if you simply load the new firmware, but those that can get under the hood of the firmware has shown that sometimes it doesn't take properly and a couple of resets gets the cobwebs out.

Is the factory reset done on the GUI or the physical button on the camera?

If possible, I prefer the actual button. It saves having to initialize the camera 3 times just to factory reset.

But in some instances it is difficult or not as practical to hit the actual button, so the GUI method has to be used.

In theory both should perform the same, I just feel like the actual button is the better bet if possible.

I'll be annoying again @wittaj :winktongue:
Why 3 factory resets? And why 3 before and 3 after the firmware upgrade?
Is this some kind of exorcism? Casting the devil out of the camera's body or what? :wow::p:rofl:

it's 2024.. almost 2025..
99% of firmware upgrades on Dahua hardware are performed by simply doing the upgrade itself. No factory restarts... And zero problems..

Maybe in 1% of cases where the camera/NVR behaves strangely and I don't know what it is - then a single factory reset and configuration from scratch..

Like I said, most don't have an issue, but if they do, chasing camera settings isn't going to do it.

And we have seen some of these cameras in 2024 still perform better with Internet Explorer, like that member that kept getting false triggers and turned out that in Edge it showed MD was turned off, yet logging in with Internet Explorer showed MD turned on.

Maybe an anomaly, maybe not, but I am sure you will admit these processors are not the most current technology out there and thus goofy things happen.

Wildcat, a trusted member here that works closely with Dahua and can get "under the hood" and has seen that using Internet Explorer doesn't result in problems, even for camera firmware that claims other browsers work, and he has seen firmware not take properly.

So in the big scheme of things, Internet Explorer is still available and I use it ONLY for these cameras and it doesn't take that long to factory reset 3 times.

The one time I didn't I lost functionality of the camera and couldn't access every menu LOL.

where I wrote anything about web browser??? :)

I am just pointing out that in reference to your it is 2024 claim, well we shouldn't have to be using Internet Explorer for brand new 2024 cameras, yet here we are LOL.

You know - I'm Mac user.. And I don't use Internet Explorer at all because I don't have IE for mac..
I have under management hundreds cameras and teens NVRs in many sites/installations - and I don't require IE at manage them :)
And not only cctv - teens of different sized ip networks with very different equipment.

Even on old installations with camera based on old plugin only grey UI most things I do under Safari or Google Chrome on Mac.
I can change options over camera web panel without live view in it.
To see effects I can do live view over NVR web page or SmartPSS/DMSS...

Yes, I have on notebook installed Windows VM with IE - but I use this a few times per year - and mostly for other things that cctv..
I hate using Windows (my OCD can't take how badly it works / is designed) so I use this only in very rare situations..

I know that I've been picking on you for the statements you write...

But I think that endlessly repeating statements derived from history, which in 99% of cases have become outdated on currently sold equipment models, makes no sense.

For me, this is creating certain "superstitions" that I often see here on the forum, scratching my head.

Yep history never repeats itself LOL

I always qualify my statements with a you might not have a problem or YMMV, but the stuff I post, if I didn't post, someone else would.

But we have seen many times this year where someone other than me suggests using Internet Explorer and low and behold it solved the issue the person was having.

It is based on our experiences as windows users with these systems.

Or maybe your installs don't push the boundaries of these cameras as much as we have to with low light lol

Dahua officially released V3.140.0000000.7.R.241018 firmware with AI-ISP enabled on TIOC-PRO product page (download / firmware section):
Is it still too stupid that it can't detect animals?
