Mini-Review EmpireTech IPC-Color4M-T

It is possible to save cctv footage and/or snapshots to a network share (e.g. smb) and view them via the camera's web interface?
When I try, the camera doesn't show any saved footage/snapshots.

Are you using an SD card installed in the camera or a NVR?

How do I disable SMD (smart motion detection) but still have IVS (tripwire and intrusion area). The moment i enable IVS snapshots, it performs both SMD on the frame (i get so many false positives).

This batch came with a different firmware version then the previous batch. This firmware version is not on Empiretech website (and is newer).
(new batch) V3.140.0000000.7.R, Build Date: 2024-10-18
( old batch) V3.140.0000000.3.R, Build Date: 2024-09-05

Recording to network share does not work on this version (no matter how many factory resets and checking over settings).

What firmware version are people running?
Can I try the older version firmware on Empiretech website on this new batch of camera's?

I believe that is the version with ISP installed on the camera? Hopefully someone can get us a review without the ISP firmware installed!

0.7.R is AI-ISP version... much brighter image at night but also more problems in very dark enverioment (strange AI noise).

You can revert to 0.2 or 0.3 without AI-ISP.. All versions here:

Newbie here who has spent many hours to go through reviews and forums. So much thankful to everyone contributing to this great platform.

So, I am leaned towards this TIOC-PRO series and would love if someone experienced here can put some images and day and night time video recordings with AI-ISP version.

Also, would love your advise on combination of products I can go with. Here is my situation.

House in an urban setting with street light in the front. Street is full of houses next to each other with around 8ft passage between two houses each side. Both sides stay dark in the night and have ground level windows on one side and a side entrance on the other side. The backyard is about 40ft wide and 30ft long and shares fences with 5 other neighbors. No direct source of light in the backyard but looks little illuminated by the urban lights as a major road passes from 200 meters away.

I was thinking to get 10 of TIOC Pros to cover the maximum area.

Can you please guide me in choosing the best bang for the buck models? Should I go with all 4MP models, or since I have some light in the front, going with 6 or 8 MP will provide a better solution? better Night vision and storage cost is the most important criteria for me.

PS: I read the famous debate about night time performance of 4mp vs 8mp, and I know 4mp always out-performs 8mp in darker situations. But with the new Dahua WizColor, is this still the case? or 8mp has advanced enough to negate the performance lacking compared to the 4MPs?

Most here would not recommend 10 of the same camera (except for varifocals) unless all you care about is overview or IDENTIFY within 15 feet of the camera. If any IDENTIFY distances are much beyond 20 feet, it will be the wrong camera choice.

If you care about night performance, you will want a MP/sensor ratio in green - 8MP on the same sensor as the 4MP will always be beat by the 4MP at night:

Tigerwillow1 has 8MP and 4MP on the same size sensor said it best in this thread paraphrased here: At the fringes, the 4MP will show an identifiable image where the 8MP will show an unidentifiable blob. And when the 4MP is showing an unidentifiable blob, the 8MP won't know anything is is there at all.

This thread is used as the go to for the NOOB here outlining the commonly recommended cameras (along with Amazon links) based on distance to IDENTIFY that represent the overall best value/best bang for the buck in terms of price and performance day and night.

The Importance of Focal Length over MP in camera selection

And coupled with that thread is this great thread which will show why all of the same 2.8 or 3.6mm cameras is the wrong choice: i-want-2-8mm-cameras-everywhere-to-see-everything-this-is-why-you-need-specific-fovs-with-purposeful-focal-lengths.70053/
