i will be receiving a MT for my 1st surveillance system in a few days. I have a DVI monitor and will buy a HDMI - DVI adapter.

I think 43 inch 4K televisions do a great job. They can also double as very nice PC monitors because the DPI is about the same as a traditional monitor, but you just have 4x the space.

Yeah, a 43”/ 4K TV would be nice but I’m wondering what to expect using 3-4 HD cameras on a 20” DVI monitor.

Should work well enough to get you started.

Ideally I like 1080P monitors for 1080P cameras, and "4K" monitors for 8MP / "4K" cameras

I can see the appeal. I just finished installing Linux XFCE on my MT and connected it to my 52” plasma TV. The HDMI -> DVI adapter should arrive in a few weeks. Then it’s down to a 21” Dell monitor.
