Hey IPcam friends...i will now buy additional items. Here is what I have so far. Please provide your input if it’s not the right thing to get. Cam installation is not my profession so if any of this is an overkill, please share a link with your recommendations. I will route the cable through the walls and in the attic. I have also purchased some ubiquiti networking gear so this cable will be used for that purpose as well.

Lastly, I was told 23 gauge is good for long runs over 24 gauge . Cable below I chose is 23 gauge.

I’ve seen @fenderman recommend platinum products so chose those for connectors and crimpers.

bulk monoprice network cable:
Monoprice Cat6 Ethernet Bulk Cable - Network Internet Cord - Solid, 500Mhz, UTP, CMR, Riser Rated, Pure Bare Copper Wire, 23AWG, 1000ft, White - 108108 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007NHJODC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_7PdgCb3GN3TEK

Platinum connectors:
Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ Connectors, Clamshell, 50-Pieces https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000FI9VU2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_1UdgCbZNEEZSS

Platinum crimp tool:
Platinum Tools 100054C Clamshell EZ-RJPRO HD Crimp Tool https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00939KFOU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_DlegCbZPZY3ND

Cable tester:
I have NO clue which one to buy, please recommend.

I saw these that have very high ratings

11' Fiberglass Running Wire Cable Coaxial Electrical Fish Tape Pull Push Kit https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07519CLJX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_37dgCb5S71XRZ

@xmfan

I picked that up at Harbor Freight. You may have one near you - iirc it was very affordable.

When screwing the pieces together, use electrical tape to finish it up as the pieces can fairly easily unscrew.

I also found this useful for some of the work, nylon fish tape
50 Ft. Nylon Fish Tape

Cheaper at harbor freight btw
3/16 in. x 33 ft. Fiberglass Wire Running Kit

update: if you do decide to go w/HF - they have a discount / coupon code on their page listed ( good until 12/24 it looks like )

I've been using one like this for about 8 years with great success. Mine has a slide switch (off/fast/slow) on the transmitter so you can walk to other end of cable to observe the LED's.

IPCT sells one too, switch is on the side, works the same and is a little cheaper here.

@xmfan

Happy to help. Also, if you do not already have one - the steel fish tape can be useful. I have one for electrical work - so I did not need to get another.

OH, and.. I think this needs to be on your shopping list.. for only $100 more than a IPC_HDW523x you can get a starlight 25x PTZ
Amcrest 1080P WiFi PTZ POE IP Camera PTZ 25x Optical Zoom Dahua OEM Sony Starvis Sensor, IP2M-858W
