Hey all. I just added an electric gate with a motion-sensing street light to my property. I pulled a CAT5 (outdoor) cable in a conduit out to the gate rack as infrastructure for the camera system I want to build. Here are some pictures of the gate job. I still have to mount the keypad and install a "deliveries" cabinet outside the gate so I can leave it closed all the time.

I am reading around here trying to learn, and I'm sure I will have tons of questions. I am a total noob, so if there is a sticky or something for ipcam virgins please point me in the right direction.

Welcome, I did this to my gate a while back. It works great!

I added a sensor underground to alert me when a vehicle pulls up to the gate, so I can check on them.
It operates on the magnetic field of the vehicle, so very seldom is wrong. You can get them wireless from
Or wired to an input on your camera.
