Recently purchased an hik nvr 7600 series. I don't not have this plugged into a network right now but I have hooked the nvr to a monitor to start the setup wizard. I cannot go any further in the setup process because it's asking for an administrator password. Now I saw post here before that state the default password is "12345" but that doesn't seem to be working. Is there a reason that the hik default password would not work fresh out of the box ?

Keep searching, there are a couple of similar passwords used. Or ask the seller which one it is, seems like the easiest solution. I think I had 12345678ABC for mine.

Now I did find the section that shows the serial number and secure code section. Does anyone know the email for hik for USA to get my secure code?

Where did you buy the nvr? Official dealer or ebay, AliExpress etc?

If your manuals with the default password doesn't work I think you will have a hard time to get any help from Hik itself. It's prob China import and not an official dealer. But don't worry the product is most likely a real one

I'm waiting for their offices to open but I'm hoping that hik technical support could help. I wanted to check with you guys here so see if there was a simple solution.

Well the old rule applies "you get what you pay for". Buying grey import is not completely hassle-free. You'll get the product alright but don't expect the 24/7 service

I would just keep trying with different passwords. Seems like the quickest and easiest solution. Just search the nvr section of the forum

Normally, with current firmware, a new NVR would prompt you to create a new, strong, password, and use the join-the-4-dots access method, even via the VGA/HDMI interface.
It does sound like the seller has already set a password.
For the cameras and NVRs, Hik defaults were 12345, 123456789abc, then "activation"
Sellers have been known to use 123456789a as was already mentioned.
