Currently upgrading the old 16 channel analog system at my fire dept to a more up to date 16 channel with 8 ips. I have a few questions if anyone cares to give some advice. Thanks for the help.

1. What network cable ...cat 5e or cat 6?
2. What kind of cable... UTP, FTP, etc?
3. Does every ptz camera need a seperate rs485 line from every camera or one wire to the dvr connecting them all together?
4. Rg59 or R6 Siamese cable? The building is 40'x100'
5. Recomend a good brand for the wire?
6. Any connectors members would recommend?
7. What ptz camera do u recommend for a parking lot?

Study this: Cliff Notes.
It's always advised that more fixed cameras are installed instead of PTZ, unless the PTZ is manned 24/7. Otherwise the chances are high it will be looking at the wrong direction when something happens.
1) Cat 5e is fine, if you want to future proof, then cat 6 is fine. Make sure it's Solid copper and not copper clad aluminum.
2) UTP is fine unless it is exposed to the weather, then outdoor rated. OR be put into conduit.
3) In IP cams, no rs485 needed, it's all done over the network.
4) If upgrading to IP cams, none needed.
5) Monoprice.com
6) Monoprice with the load bar.
7) If you are stuck on PTZs. Then it depends on your needs.
Some exmaples:
I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.
Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)
Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

A PC running Blue Iris is a much better choice than any NVR.
