So I have a 2032 which is meant to keep an eye on my car I have a few idiots around that like to destroy and damage peoples property.

Problem is to get an id this setup is not going to work day is fine but once that night fall comes its terrible.

Camera1-1.jpg

Camera running at 1920 x1080p 20 fps 4096 bit rate variable 20 iframe with svc on
Exposure 1/25 gain 80 wdr off blc off digital noise at 13

What could I do to improve the picture and get some ids?

Anything else other than light? Will be hard to get any sort of light as its a pretty busy road and flood light would be no go as people have houses opposite.

more IR...or a camera with better low light performance...you also need a longer lens if you want a good night id.
Did you disable smart IR?

You definitely need more light, attached is a sample showing what an external light source can do to improve ID capabilities..

but you have another problem, thats not enough zoom.. by my generous calculations that guy's face is mere 48px square, even with adequate lighting your not getting ID shot with that few pixels.. your going to need more zoom and or megapixels to get an ID on the sidewalk.. in these images I attached, my face is 110px square

i'd go for something more like this: http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bi2T6jgU

ultra power: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/840nm-42W-IR-illuminator-90-degree-IR-Lamp-1pcs-lot-invisible-IR-light-with-Aluminum-material/32610702662.html

or even
http://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/bfWJvWrO

my point is the surface mount IR led's are alot better than those round through hole diodes.

this is the one I'm using: https://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php/13943-IR-Cannon-w-Adjustable-Focus

though with as wide as shot as your trying to light up at night, I dunno.

Dont rely on Solar anything working as the nights close in, in winter the Uk gets just over 7 hours daylight as apposed to 16 hrs summer and most of the winter the Sun is oscured by cloud, you defo need more IR light and a better zoom but it will have to be mains powered if you want it to work
