Need Some Recommendation on DVR & NVR

Hi All, I am pretty new to the forum and thought I would get some recommendations from folks here. I am looking for a reliable and flexible DVR or NVR which has following features.

1. Motion Detection- Snap shots, videos, pics by Email
2. FTP - to ftp site base on motion or schedule
3. Connect to different Cam brands.
4. Internal and external (USB HD) support
5. Price < $500

Any recommendations on brand and model?

Hikvision make great NVR, ds-7616n/sn/p would come in around that price but not sure about the external hard drive.
