I have Poe, need to detect a person moving around about 900 ft away. Ideally would be able to see clothing hair color etc.

Don't need pan/zoom

Don't need might time visualization although thermal would be cool

You are joking right? let me guess your budget is $60?
Im not sure what you are getting at. My budget would be around $1K.

hikvision etc have 135mm focal length cameras but they are $300 with 30X zoom. At that price I suspect it won't do what I need. Hikvision has one with more zoom, but also comes with thermal and is 4K or 5K. I was joking about the thermal, dont need to see at night. 135mm might do it, but Im not sure.

that one looks pretty good. I was surprised
that one looks pretty good, is starlight a reputable brand? I was thinking to stick to hikvision or dahua, and was hoping to find something in the 200mm + range. Seems like there is no such thing.

Hikvision makes this one which is about 1K

DS-2DE7430IW-AE-Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co. Ltd.

has a max focal length of 177mm which is getting pretty good.
i was hoping to find one without PTZ but with improved distance as a tradeoff.

dahua has this one with a 135mm for 700 https://www.amazon.com/SD59430U-HNI-Network-4-5mm-135mm-Optical-English/dp/B06WGLS2PT

I was hoping to find people that could recommend vs buying blindly and hoping it works out.

Starlight is Dahua's term for thier low light cams with Sony Starvis sensor. From what I've read the Dahua's are better than the Hikvision cams.

This one goes to 275mm. I found one link that had it for $1600, not sure if it was a legit site though.

For your budget I don't think you will find what your looking for..
Dahua's longest zoom in a PTZ starlight cam is 48x and 900 ft is a ways out there.
Here is my 10A248V, excellent camera and very pricey.

@jmcu Your PTZ looks like it can be part of some missile launch system. It's looks pretty big and fear inducing.

Do you have neighbors you are trying to scare? :)

Jerk!
Thanks for showing me how awesome the 48x is when I just bought a 25x from andy....not even hooked up yet due to single degree temps and I'm sure I'll be disappointed now.

What does the 48x cost?
Hearing that may cheer me up again.

awesome thanks these suggestions are perfect. Im leaning towards the box cam and a 300mm lens. My neighbor keeps trespassing and I just need to get notified when he crosses the fence line (about 900 ft from my house) Will a lens like this work?
